Schumacher's Hill Country Gardens is back!

Good news about Schumacher's!

I'm on their email newsletter list and received word today that Chip is taking back the nursery as of today! I was there a week ago and was so disappointed at how few plants were available for sale. There was a huge greenhouse full of plants roped off, and now I know what they were for. I can't go back right now, but I hope some of you can.

Here's a link to info on Schumacher's special sale tomorrow and Saturday: http://www.hillcountrygardens.com/

And the newsletter explaining his plan for salvaging the nursery: http://www.hillcountrygardens.com/newsletter.html

Don't know if you have ever been there, but it was a dream come true last fall. I brought home a Jeep load of hard-to-find salvias and other natives, very reasonably priced. And then when Chip turned it over to the new guy, Bob, the nursery went to pot. I know Chip has very serious health problems, and I am so happy for him that he feels able, and has help, to try to salvage his dream. I'm tempted to get up and go tomorrow, but I have been gone all week helping my sister unpack after moving from Lubbock to Round Rock. I need to stay home and do some laundry, water the plants I already have, and find my cat. He took off like a streak when we got home around 5:00, and he's hiding out somewhere. He's punishing me for keeping him cooped up inside for two days. Looking forward to seeing you in just a few weeks!

I received the email also. That is better than a Christmas card from your long lost best friend. I would go and gladly help get things going. Thanks goodness he is ABLE to do it. The last time I saw him he looked so tired and worn. I hope this and the fall weather bring him some much needed rejuvination.

I'm so thankful! What would southcentral Texas be without Schumacher's?
