Well, some of you may know that I am trying to build a hummer garden for DH. We were out this weekend, talking to the neighbor, and look what we saw!
I'm so thrilled (sorry if this is old hat to you guys with 30-40 hummers in your yard!!)
I call him - Hubby's Hummer :)

DH's first hummer!
Very pretty.
It is very gratifying that they appreciate all your hard work, isn't it? Good job - your garden looks very peaceful and pretty. I'd be attracted to it, too.
I know how exciting it is to see your first. I had never seen one before last summer, and not up close until this year. Now that I have a window feeder, when people come over it's a real treat if they have never seen one before to have them right at the window. great pic, too!

Thanks indirt and grampapa - that's actually a shared fence line with the neighbor. She has the lovely 20+ years established garden that looks so peaceful and pretty. Mine looks like...ummmm, a cross between an abandoned lot, a weed-be-gone commercial and beginner's plot attempts :) I can only aspire at this point! We've only put about 2 months of work into it (but too many dollars!) already and it has a ton of work remaining. The front yard is slightly better. I have a 'wildscape' kind of gardening plan.
Credit for the photo goes to DH. I think the cutest thing about these critters is the way they dangle their tiny feets under them when they are eating...LOL! Here's a better peek at his feet.
I need to look on Google to get an ID.
Thanks for the encouragement!

So cute!! I saw my first a few days ago, but he hasn't been back yet :-(

hineni, I agree about the little feet. I get the biggest kick of them!
Happy 4 U Sunny!!!

Update:
He was back today, and in OUR yard this time:) We put up a small feeder since we're just building up our plants. He flew right over my shoulder...hovered and tested some salvia, and then proceeded to chow down! Unfortunately, I didn't have camera in hand, but it was so cool!
So exciting ~ and thanks for sharing this with me :)

You will always remember your first....then the passion really hits you. Great pic's! I still will stop whatever I am doing whenever I see one...
mee too!!!
Just wait until they start yelling at you through the window when the feeder is empty.....
