Suckers!!!

Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Greetings Everyone!
Sorry to interrupt your bingo session....
Remember my rather robust AV? I was wondering why it grew leaves upside down and sideways....
Then I remembered the website that some of you tell me to check out....
Lo and behold, there are 3 suckers in that one plant....I didn't even know that it was possible for an AV to have 3 suckers, always thought only one at a time.
Anyway....
I finally separated them from their mother.
Here's the picture of the 3 suckers all potted up
The one on the very top in the picture even already has a couple of tiny roots.

Here's the mother now....
Does she look okay to you?
If you see something wrong with what I'm doing in the picture, please let me know.
I can't tell you enough how new I am to AV's :o)

And this is the before picture, so you don't have to dig in to pages to find it....
Just for comparison sake, a before and after thing...

Thanks for looking!!!

haha suckerzzzz!!!

just be sure to give them a bit of extra humidity for a few weeks while they put out roots :-)

The mom plant looks great! I'm impressed that you managed to remove 3 suckers without breaking off extra leaves and ruining the symmetry of the plant... some of mine come out of "surgery" looking pretty lopsided!

Keyring is right, extra humidity is the key (for me) to starting suckers or leaves... I like to use a dome of some sort with a couple of holes for ventillation... If you use a plastic bag, leave it a little open at the bottom and use sticks in the pots to hold the plastic away from the leaves.... extra humidity to keep the leaves crisp and potting soil that is just barely moist; that's what works for me to get rooting rather than rotting.

Good luck!

Well they all look good to me!

TFS!

Thanks everyone for your replies..!
Glad to know that they look okay...
I'm surprised too that the mother plant keep the shape neat.
Also, 2 leaves were broken, and they were inserted to peat plugs hoping to get more babies....
They are all in a tabletop mini electric greenhouse so the humidity and temp. stays constant.

Now I'm crossing my fingers tightly that the suckers root and lives, and the leaves produced babies :o)
