Australian Grass Pyrgomorph (Atractomorpha australis)
I am having difficulty naming my latest bug type. Its a bright green grasshopper infestation. Completely devoured a sweet basil plant 24" X 36" in two days and then moved on to mint plants, Both plant types are the same color as the grasshopper!!!!. Can't see a pic of exactly the bug. Its small 1/4" to 1/2 ". I want to eradicate it and its eggs (?) at the moment I am killing them by hand!!
I live in the 'desert' near Palm Springs California. Never seen them before, and its 100 degrees plus here all the time at present.
Will try and get a pic of one.
Post your query to our Insect and Spider Identification Discussion Forum: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/bugid/all/
Someone there may be able to help you. I am in Australia and unlikely to know your grasshopper
