i don't really know why i want these. rain lilies bloom about once every 5 yrs. here. lol. is there a way to get them to bloom other than with rain 'cause it ain't raining here? does shade help?

Southern, United States

Sorry Barb, this round is all spoken for. I tried and tried to get them to bloom without rain, no such luck. It must be something in the rain that does it. Dmail later on if you still want some and I'll save some for you. Fran

Fran,

Just wanted to let you know mine are planted and being checked twice a day....lol. I didn't realize that about only blooming in the rain. I will have to keep that in mind.....although the name should have been a clue for me, huh? =)

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

fran, it's o.k. but what is funny is that yesterday i found the pink rain lilies blooming. hahahaha i've had them about 3-4 yrs. and have seen them bloom maybe 3 times.

Its the acidity in the rain--you can sometimes get them to bloom with distilled water that's been acidified.
