OK, so with the new house and a 16 year old that seems to have the worst luck in the world *lol* I don't really have the funds for new plants.
However, I LOVE my babies and cherish and each every one of them!
With the promise of winter to come soon and the promise of winter depression to follow, I have decided that I have room in my heart and now in my home to adopt some babies if anyone has babies to share.
I grow mostly hoyas, crown of thorns, christmas cactus and have recently expanded into a few Oxalis. I have 1 Epi that was an unrooted cutting from E-Bay 2 years ago that has a few new leaves and a Ric Rac cactus that can't decide if it wants to die or not. I've been trying to grow a lipstick plant and PP Philadendron but am not sure how I'm doing with either yet as the lipstick has never bloomed and the Philadendron keeps getting brown spots (recently repotted so I have my fingers crossed).
Most of my babies are quite small and therefore not big enough to share yet (although I'm taking really good care of them and hope that someday they will be big enough to send to others).
With that being said, I would love to fill my Epi pot some more and think that I would like to try a Queen Ann's Tears? I know there are many flowering houseplants out there that I have yet to discover and would LOVE to try something new.
I am "rooting challenged" for the most part so anything that already has roots is probably in my best interest *lol*.
I kill every African Violet I look at for some reason and can't seem to stop watering cactus too much so I know those are out of the question for me :(
With funds being tight right now, I have decided to part with a few of my "kreations".
I made a beautiful hat last year which has been in a bag under the bed ever since. It would fit a lady with a medium to large head. I have attached pictures of my daughter displaying it.
I also have 2 extra beaded plant hangers that I made. One is blue and yellow and one is purple, blue, pink . The blue and yellow one is the shorter of the two. I can give more details if either of these interest you please D-Mail me.
I will close this thread Sunday night and hope that I can successfully adopt some new babies :)
Hope to hear from you,
Kim
Looking to Adopt......Something.....Special
Kim-How about a copper leaf plant, a orchid cactus start, swiss chees philo, heart shaped philo, spider plant, moses in a boat, or jasmine sambac? I would be interested in the beaded hangers. Lou
Hmmm, you want epis? I started some from seed 1/03 and they have yet to bloom, but I think 2007 may see some flowers. I have several dozen and would gladly relinquish ownership of a few. Wish I could guarantee that they will turn out to be special, as you requested! Email me if you are interested.
Hi Kim,I have a nice Queen Ann's Tears I would be willing to send you in exchange for your plant hangers.Let me know if you by D-Mail if you want to trade. : ) Nancy
Hi Lou,
I truly appreciate your generous offer but quite honestly I try to only grow plants that reward me with flowers. I feel like this.....If I'm going to mist, talk, sing, water and baby them they better reward me with a flower or something *lol*.
I have written to both Sofi and Cedarnest via D-Mail.
Kim
you mean you don't like when the vines reach out to tell you how much they love you? I've got a hoya lacunosa that likes to "grab" people as they walk by.
speakin of hoyas, that would be a good plant for you to try. the flowers are very much a reward
OMG if I could only get a Lacunosa to grow for me I would be in HEAVEN!
I seem to kill that plant no matter what....it HATES me :(
Kim, I have lots of rooted epi plants that are going on eBay soon. If you would like a few Dmail me! -joanne
kim: I noticed mine likes alot of light and alot of water. remember, not all hoyas grow the same.
but I do know what you mean about killing them. I have a heck of a time keeping they Krimson Queen hoya carnosa alive.
I've killed three
::sob::
Kim,
The Lacunosa is the one that has a scent straight from heaven...I'm telling you - as pretty as Bella's blooms are Lacunosa's scent is equal in fragrance!! I've grown mine the same way I do Bella - you should have no problem since baby Bella's doing so well for you!!!
Hello Chantell sweetie.
You know what I did? I bought a beautiful basket of lacunosa at HD and decided I needed to repot it....why....I don't know. After I repotted it it died faster than anything you had ever seen. I have learned to just buy them and LEAVE THEM ALONE *lol*. IF I ever see another one at HD I'm going to try ONE MORE TIME and just leave it alone. I so want to grow one so hopefully HD will get more of them someday :(
Kim
Remember what I told you...they LIKE being root bound - mine have been in those 4" pots forever - I'm 1/2 afraid to even change out their soil....and believe me they need it!!!
kim: don't forget that both Lowes and Home Depot have those "one-year guarantees"
I keep ALL my plant receipts
Forgot about those guarantees - goodness knows I've used them in the past.
Meant to tell you, Kim...your daughter is simply gorgeous...what a pretty thing...those eyes are killers!! You done good, my friend!
You know, I totally forgot about that guarantee! Foolish me, I throw everything away. I need to learn to keep receipts etc. Next time I will try to remember.
Chantell, thank you so much for the compliment on my baby girl. She truly is a gift from God :)
Kim
