This one is sort of haunting as it starts out sort of pale and beige early in the day and later turns more apricotish. There is a hint of pink in the throat.
Introducing Persimmon
The style on Persimmon is attached to some of the petals; do you think that is just a characteristic of this cultivar? It is hard to see in the picture but the parts are definitely part of each other (does that make sense?).
The earlier flowers had this same odd characteristic but they were half opened buds when it arrived and I attributed it to the stress of such a long trip east.
Doubles can always have those kind of petaloides just the nature of the creature. Pride Of Hankins has multiple staminal columns sometimes all joined together at the base. Some of those will be fused to the petals too.
Kyle
Thanks Kyle, I used to have Pride of Hankins and didn't remember it having fused petals. This one is obviously weird looking up close; definitely one to look at from a distance.
Wow, that one's pretty! I love the combination of soft orange and bright pink ~ very cheery :-)
Those are my colors, Ardesia......why is it in your yard???
A beauty for sure.
Well, you California girls can't have all the fun.
