I worked as a mang. at a pond store for 2yrs. I found out I have a real nack for propagating pond plants. The store closed and no one else in the area sells water plants. Here is what I need to know. I would love to sell some plants. I sell stuff on e-bay and do really well but, I have never sold plants on e-bay. I have tons, and tons, of pots I got free. I have alot of plants. But, I am short on room in my back yard. I do have a small green house. This spring I sold veggies I started from seed. I just sold to ppl in the area. Kinda like a yard sale for plants. So does any one know where I could get info about selling water plants? A book, or web site, or even message board?
Thanks so much,
wolf
Where can I get info on selling pond plants?

Wolf,
I had a girlfriend that sold water cabbages on e-bay. I tried to contact her but she has apparently moved. I would think it would be the same as other stuff.
Give it a try. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

I'd be interested in what you have for sale. Would you send me a link when you start selling on ebay!
lavenderwolf, if I was in your shoes I would advertise in the classified adds forum right here at Daves
http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/bulletins/all/
I think the cost was 5 dollars for a two weeks add and no more costs and NO E-bay like fees.
You can list all your plants and what they cost and add a link to a site that carries the photo of the plant in question if you want or in your own page here at DG but if you do it in your diary or journal dont link it because it wont work. BUT you can tell people to look at your diary/journal for pictures of the plants in the add.
You could also make a small collage in windows paint of the photos if its not to many and post in the adveritseing. If you dont know how the picture would look when posted, do it in the "test" forum also here at Daves.
I am pretty sure that Dave said there is no limit to how big/long the add was allowed to be.
There was a catch on Avertising in the classified add forum, you cant tell/advertise your add in classified add forum on other treads/forum or post here at Dave´s.

ouigeaux, I really don't have any for sale yet. But thanks for your interest. I have enough to sell I just want to be sure I do it the right way.
jannett, I will have to look in to that idea. I didnt even know there was a classified adds forum! I am so glad you told me. I would MUCH rather sell to dg members than to ppl on e-bay. Every week I have a new person trying to take advantage of me on e-bay.
I have shipped alot of things but never a plant. So the whole thing would be new to me.
I am a stay at home mom so there wouldnt be a huge risk or anything.
Not having room is no longer a problem my DH said I could have the side yard. lol
I have been reading "growing plants for profits" It is a great help but says nothing about pond plants. I have sold herbs at the local farmers market but its a very small market and I hardly made enough to cover my fees. But, I loved it.
So I have alot of kinks to work out but I am determined to do it one way or another.
My dream (very far away) is to own a small nursery. I think this is a good way to get started.
