CLOSED: Send Postage or the Coleus Gets It

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I took these cuttings last year from two of my Aunts hanging basket. These are free for postage. They are well rooted since they've been in the same pot for over a year. They go into the compost pile next weekend if no one wants them.

They sure are pretty. I have a bunch I need to give away before the frost comes.

If anyone is wondering about overwintering.... I've overwintered trailing coleus like these for several years now, tucking little plants into various indoor containers (great in hanging baskets) and then taking a bunch of cuttings to root each spring. It roots easily in water, and then I pot up the cuttings in little cell packs (plant out after roots have filled the little cell).

LOL, I guess I don't want your coleus to "get it" and am hoping somebody will adopt it for the winter!

I've got a "regular" large-leafed one I'm going to try to overwinter also since my mom just loved it... I don't know why it wouldn't work as well as the trailing ones! Pinch it back once or twice during the winter to make it bushy, and you'll get more "tips" for cutting & rooting. 3-4 weeks before last frost will give you plenty of time to root cuttings so that they'll fill a 2 inch pot.

Have fun, Super-Gardener-Woman! (But lose the cape -- you'll just snag it on something, LOL.)

lol....I'll put it in the closet with my "dress" clothes...you know the ones that are in style now.....for the SECOND time??? lol!
