My all round faviorite violet is the wasp. Which ones are you growing?
Royal wasp
Are you growing Wasp violets?
So which ones are you growing? Anyone have snow wasp?
I have two leaves down of Royal Wasp, Jan. I got them as a bonus from an Ebay purchase. I have never grown them before, so now that I have seen your photos of it, I'll know what to look forward to. They are lovely and unique aren't they? Thanks.
Don Ü
Eunice, your plants are lovely, please post a picture when the blooms come out.
Don,
I love Royal wasp.I have it growing in natural light and it always has a bloom.
I have Aeolian Wasp and Celery. I've only had them a few months, but Celery has a bud on it, which is exciting. Some sites said things about it like "just grow it for the foliage", or "hard to tell if it blooms true to the description, since I've never seen it bloom". So I'm excited that I may get to see it. :-)
I think I have grown almost all of them :)) Well many different ones !
Jan yours are so beautiful ! I still have a hugh Martin, and others for you !
One and only and first green and white blooming wasp you have it close Jan and maybe I spelled it wrong ?
Vespa Verde (D. Senks) It has white wasp blossoms variably edged in green.Variegated Foliage, Delicate Green-edged Wasp Blossoms "Vespa Verde" Vespa Verde blooms easily and its medium green semi-miniature occasionally-bustled foliage forms a nice rosette Semiminiature (User Database)
Eunice and Sara your's are pretty too ! Don you will love yours ! I think their fun ! Great bloomers and grow well in natural light !
I only have a Royal Wasp.I am still waiting impatiently on its first blooms.I hope it looks as nice as yours Jan. : ) Nancy
SaraCatherine,It looked up your wasps.Lovely! Maybe when our plants are older we can trade leaves:)
Allison,I love these different plants! You are right about the Vespa Verde.I typed it wrong.
The Martin! Woo hoo another to add to my plant madness.LOL.
Nancy,You will love Royal wasp.It blooms all the time.
Sure, I'd be happy to trade some time. Aeolian Wasp I actually have another baby plant of, because I was brave enough to separate it when I realized it was two plants in one pot. The second plant seems to have more roots now (it lost most of them when I split them), and has just graduated to living outside of a plastic bag. So it's doing fairly well. :-)
I only have Aeolian Wasp, it was given to me from a friend at the Violet show and I am hoping and praying that it will give me babies.
TFS...it is an awesome flowwer.
Joanne
Stunning Kenten ! Is that the baby I sent you ? You grow beautiful plants !
Nice to see people growing these great plants.I love the Aeolian Wasp Joanne.
Kenton,beautiful plant as alway.
Morning Jannich!
Well I sure hope it will do something for me....I had to cut off some of the outer edge as it was dying on me but it looks good and healthy.
I also have a leaf down of blue tail fly but the leaf is really weird...the bottom half is facing backwards...do they call that bustle backed or something like it?
Anhow great photos! TFS!
Joanne
I've got 'The Martin' and 'Royal Wasp', which are both lovely but similar enough that I'll probablyeventually keep only one of them and give the other away. (I'm having similar thoughts about several pink-blooming girl-leafed varieties that I'm growing now -- when I've seen them all bloom, I'll pick my favorite and give the rest away.) I've also got a tiny leaf-baby of 'Vespa Typsy Rae', and I think my 'Optimara's Little Crystal' is considered a wasp also (although it has regular green foliage, no bustling). I also picked up 'Merlot Trail', which has the most wonderful foliage, almost a purple-burgundy color on the back. I've got some leaf babies of Little Crystal, and I need to put leaves down of all of them this winter!
Which ones are not "blue" flowered?
K

There are more. I've grown about 99 percent of them. Each one wonderful and unique. I also can tell difference in The Martin And The Royal. Voth so Stunning and always blooming in any type of light each to grow, progate that if I was still growing would have several of each for these reason.
Thier not easy to Hybridized and most of them are Vintage as Dates this the best job at this. David Senk did use the Dates Strain in his Hybridizing giving most of his plants Bustled back or at least occasionally-bustled foliage .
Not all wasp plants have bustled foliage nor do they always
have bustled foliage .
Their fun to grow ! For he person that enjoys different too !
And I do love them. They are different.
Kenton I have a plantlet of Gecko's Typsy Vespa for you if you would like it:)
Very kind, but I have too much pink at present for my tastes. Thanks, though.
Gosh, Allison, thanks for that list and information. 'Vespa Verde,' Vespa Vino' the single whites, and especially 'Calico Wasp,' and 'Bustled Bedazzle' (very new, it appears) all sound very enticing. I'm a big fan of the round shape of bustled leaves and their long hair. Hippy Violets.
K
Kenton I have an extra baby of ; Vespa Verde (D. Senks) I can send you ! Back about 2 years ago I paid $20.00 or so for two leaves and sold seven babies for $20.00 - 30.00 but when Senk sells them they go much higher even seen them go to a hundred. It's the first and only green and white flowring wasp plant and variegated . It's more of a mini/small Semi miniature plant.
So last Fall I bought a couple more leaves and got about 5 more babies ! I sent a few out already ! Jan 's I know is doing great she sent me a picture ! Amy how is yours ? Be good to get leaves down once their big enough this one is a beauty and hard to get.
I was shipping some boxes out this week but my husband hurt his back again over weekend trying to give me a shower :(( He can barely move but if his back is better boxes will go out monday and if you will be home I can send you one !

I had great pictures of this great green and white variegated wasp plant but can't find them. Here is a link that give you a tiny view of bloom and leaf but does not do it's justice.
http://groups.msn.com/AfricanVioletNotebook/davidsenk2.msnw
I've grown just about all his plants. This one, Bean stalk were two of my favorites !
I've got some wasps, but I can't remember the names of them. Allison sent me 2 or 3 of them a couple weeks ago. I've really got to find time to take some pictures. Maybe I can do that today, but I make no promises. Anyone got any spare time they'd like to send to me?? LOL
Thanks Amy ! Yes you got one of the Special ones from Senk the green and white bloomer ! Hope it does real well a hard one to get !
Thanks, Allison. There are some things I want to send to you, but I'm still watching all of my plants like a paranoid hawk for broad-mites. I want to be extra careful now that they seem to be doing fine.
And great link, that 'Girl with an Attitude' is amazing. Quite the breeder, Mr. Senk.
K
OH James sorry I am not taking anymore plants. I am getting rid of all mine . I just have a few that are not already promised out. I'll keep a few Gesneraids as they grow like weeds for me and need little care and always producing a stolon or two ! I cant take care of them I'm in bed 99 percent of the time and the few Gesneraids and Begonias are all my help can handle watering and if they die I don't mind.
Sure thing, I'm sure I can find another beneficiary to take them in your honor.
Thanks Kenton ! It's crazy here with Nursing aids, now the RN coming out bed sores bad again :(( and Doctor comes to our home ... and I take so much care can't expect anyone to do more for me.
