I have alot of the Cypress vine, like what Moretz linked to. My address is in the exchange; the only thing is the seeds are kinda big (think popcorn kernel, except crescent-shaped), and probably need a bubble envelope.

I am not sure, but around here, This http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=trumpet+vine&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search is called hummingbird vine. The orange type of trumpet vine. Which are you looking for? I don't mean to "hijack" your thread, but I would like to have seeds of both types is anyone has any for postage.

kaykay1010,
I have the Cypress vine ( http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/93/index.html ) for postage. I planted a couple this year, and now they are climbing over to the neighbors' and up to the sky on the powerline pole.
My address is in the exchange... you might also get some since you're in the Thanksgiving Swap, too. :)

Can I jump in here? I have 2 trumpet vines ~ which are very invasive. I let one do some blooming this year, and I kept whacking the other because of it's need to spread to my Jasmine. How do you collect the seeds? I have saved 3 of the spent flowers, but have no idea what I'm looking for...I would be glad to send seeds, but don't have a clue as to how to save them.

music2keep,
Here is a pic of the seedpods from the PlantFiles:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/6906/
Pick them off when they are brown, and they will crack open by themselves... or you might also find ones already cracked open and you will see how easily the seeds are carried by the wind to start the invasion...

Thanx Gena, I'm gone to look now! But for the life of me I don't remember seeing any pods....I have had these 2 plants for about 5 years...I have seen seedlings every where, tho.

Well, since this IS Dawns thread, I will wait and see what I get in the Thanksgiving swap. She deserves the seeds!! Like I said before, I did not mean to hijack your thread. Thanks for letting me borrow it. LOL

Kaykay, don't mind at all. We call the trumpet vine a hummingbird vine also. I only recently heard of the "hummingbird vine" aka cypress vine.

Dawn, if you are still looking for these seeds I have lots of seeds for the Red Trumpet Vine. They are from last year, but I'm sure they are fine. If you're interested I could see if any are ripe yet this year, there should be some but it's been raining non-stop here and they are calling for rain for the next week. I have plenty to go around if anyone else is interested, just let me know.
