Algae on pond

Grantsboro, NC(Zone 8b)

How do you get rid of it?
I tried Pond Scum and people thought I was talking about a person so not I'm trying Algae.

Lavina, we've had good luck using Aquashade, a blue pond dye, both in the garden pond and farm pond. The dye blocks out certain sun rays to slow down algae growth and makes the pond a beautiful blue color. It's highly concentrated and will stain at full strength, but once completely diluted, it is safe for swimming, fish and livestock.
