Floating Islands....Just AWESOME!

SC, MT(Zone 5a)

I am going to have one for sure!

My friend put a small one in her pond and it is so wonderful. Even the birds have landed on it.
Check this out and tell us what you think, please.

This is so cool! I need one of these for the pond. Great idea for winter cover when the lilies are dormant, too.

Gosh Pixydish....with over thirty views, I thought I would see more response because it excited me so to see them. For some, the loading might be a long time, I know it was for me but so well worth it.

I saw my friend's yesterday and she has roots galore coming out of the bottom of hers and you can see her fish under it just like in the pictures.

I have Heron here and need to net the shallows of my pond or lose my Koi for a supper to the visiting birds. I can't have plants around the outside edge of my pond for that reason so this is floating island is just the ticket for my pond.

Can you believe how awesome your pond would look with one of these in it? :^)

I like them. But can not find out any pricing.
What did your friend pay for hers. I like your idea of winter cover and also spring until the lilies get started.

We have a pond club in the area and we are going out to Floating Ponds International next Saturday for a pond meeting. They were developed here in Montana and have distributors to buy from. I am not sure if I can even buy one from them but I am going to try.

They do have brochures or pamplets they send because my friend got one. She called the number and discussed her wants and needs and they were very helpful in getting just what she wanted. I don't know what she paid for it and she didn't offer the price. The only thing she said was she expected them to be expensive and they weren't. Knowing her, and how inventive she is, she wouldn't have spent a fortune...she always buys almost everything on sale. :^) and is mighty proud of her saving money.

I intend to ask the people at Floating Islands if they would like to become one of the Garden Watchdog's 'places to buy from'. I sent a D-mail to Terry here at Dave's and she told me how it could be done. I think it is better that they put in the info about themselves than me doing it.

I wonder how small they go. My pond is tiny and these all look pretty big.

shows some small ones.

Perfect! I need one of the small ones. LOL

If you look at the home page, they show some of their distributors. Just click on one of the distributors and you'll see what they carry, along with pricing. They are not cheap, but it might be worth it anyway.
Since you are going to be talking to them and your group is visiting, I wonder if they might be willing to do a coop wholesale buy for Dave's Garden. If we all wanted to buy the same size, or a couple of different sizes, and they shipped to one person, who then shipped all of them out, we might be able to get wholesale price. Might be worth an ask, anyway.

I sure would be willing to try to see if they would do a coop with DG people.....I'll let you know, OK? I have never done a coop...so I have some learnin' to do. Anybody willing to help on this....at least tell me what to do?

You have mail, Bings

Do these floating islands last for only one season or several?
Does the island come already planted or do you do it yourself?
Sorry, for the questions, haven't been able to get the link.

CC..from what I understand and what they are made of, I would think they would almost last forever. There are islands made from the materials that are big enough to plant grown trees on and cover lots of land...I can't recall if they are over an acre or not but the pictures I've seen look like natural islands...not man made.

I am sorry the link isn't working for you. I have s-l-o-w dial-up and it takes a while. If you close all your other windows it will probably load faster for you. It does for me. In order to see everything, you need to keep clicking on your interests. I didn't find everything I wanted to the first time I went to the site.

If you are still having problems then call this number 1-800-450-1088 and ask your questions. I have seen brochures on these so you might ask for some then too.

Thank you Bing for the information.
I will try to get the link again.
I'm on the dial-up,too.
