‘MELE PA BOWMAN’

Baton Rouge, LA

I wanted to show y'all the leaves on my Mele Pa Bowman. I hope you can see them cleary in the picture. They look like Mickey Mouse leaves. I have the regular leaf and then it has two smaller dog ear leaves close to the base. I have several of these on the plant.

Clare, I read what you said about the high phosphorus fertilizer in CHantell's thread and I tend to agree with you. I have fertilized heavily this year and it has not made any difference. In fact, I have had less blooms this year than I have had in previous years. I have fertilized this particular plant frequently and I have not had one bloom on it. It usually is a dependable bloomer.

That is a great looking plant Josegabriele. Someone in France just posted those same leaves on Mel Pa Bowman so maybe it does that: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PlumeriaPals/message/95556

I think MPB has a reputation for being a stingy bloomer, if I'm not mistaken, so it might not be anything you did or didn't do. It also has a reputation for being prone to Black Tip. I think Scott mentioned that he waited five years for his MPB to bloom.

Mine blacktipped three years in a row but - an inflo is finally about to open on it!!! YAY!!!
Josegabriele your plant looks beautiful.
