Here is a picture of my Sally Moragne which is coming into full bloom. My plant starts branching at about 1 foot off the ground and spreads out about five feet. It has crowded my flower bed and has shaded some smaller plumerias that were planted nearby. It took long enough to bloom this year, but I am really enjoying her.
Sally Moragne
Beautiful! Don't hesitate to prune her, if you wish, and make more plants with the cuttings! I would prune the branches that don't have inflo's though!
Be sure to cut her back so she branches uniformly.
Cut at the main trunk union to prevent new branches where you dont want them.
Cut 4 to 6 inches away from the trunk for new branches at the same location
Leaving a nub with 4 to 6 leaf nodes almost garantees new branches where you cut.
This also allows you more future cuttings for propegation.
Breath-taking!!! What does it smell like?
Jeri
jeri, she has a sweet smell. I am not good at distinguishing the defferent types of smell. I have too categories, it smells good or it has no smell. I don't think I have had one that didn't smell.
I have many inflos on this plant right now. The flowers are huge. I am a teacher and I brought one to school to share with one of my co-workers. We took pictures that day and she wore hers in her hair to take her picture. About five of the students asked her if they could borrow it to take their picture.
If you are ever in the Shenadoah area let me know, I would be happy to show her off to you. Right now I have her, two yellows and a pink blooming. Some others are starting to flower. I just hope, I get to see them before it gets too cold.
I hate when they flower this late in the year, because you don't have enough time to enjoy them. Then next year, you have to wait for the new branches to mature enough before they set inflorenses.
Joe
Joe, it sounds like you need a greenhouse! LOL! Me too! I just bought another one because I have so many seedlings and plants about to flower, and I don't want to take a chance that the inflo's will dry up and fall off this winter. Sometimes, they hang on through the winter and bloom the next spring and summer, but most of the time, they turn brown and fall off.
I had to look at the pic thru my Singha bottle :)
Focus Focus Focus!
:)
Wonderful pic i not sure i would prune her but i would lean towards moving the ones in the way!!
