Can Loquat grow in shade??

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi all! I have a crazy nostalgic urge to plant a Loquat on the north side of my house. (We had them in our yard when I was a wee child.) I think it would be nice in the middle of my tropical garden area. Problem is that it's shaded by the house basically all day except in summer when there's some very late afternoon sun. I'm not expecting fruit, but would it work in such a location? Thanks!

I have my loquats in the shadiest part of my yard (behind an 8' wooden fence and I even get fruit. I also live in z8b. Try it, it should do great.

We have a loquat growing in a 'forest' of other trees....puts out a lot of fruit!!!

I had a loquat tree that was completely shaded by my Mango tree. I think you should be fine.
Hurricane Wilma removed the loquat.
