My mom and I are leaving Thursday to go to this. We planned the trip earlier in the spring. Can't wait! We're going to go to Longwood Gardens, too.

My mom has been to Winterthur and Longwood Gardens before, but not during Garden Fair. She said they are both just beautiful. I'm so excited about going!

I live close enough to have visited both of these wonderful gardens many times & have attended Garden Fair
both years. I haven't gone to the lectures, just shopped. The very best nurseries are there so its a great way
to pick up plants you may have mail ordered. And Winterthur is fabulous! The house has a wonderful
collection of antique furnature & china.

The set up is quite convenient. There are little garden carts running around to help you get your plants to a
waiting area so that you don't have to lug them around. When you are ready to leave, you drive to the
waiting area to pick them up. Easy Peasy.

I am typing this from my hotel room in Wilmington, DE, after an exhausting but very fun day at Garden Fair! I spent way too much money, of course, but I die tomorrow, I will die a happy gardener. LOL

It rained most of the morning, but cleared off by afternoon. Lots of fabulous large and healthy plants and everyone is SO nice, and willing to give advice and help. The children's garden was especially enjoyable.

I hear they're calling for scattered showers before noon tomorrow, and nice on Sunday. I bet it was fun! I might go tommorow

We want details What did you get? Glad you're having such a great time.

I'll post more details and some pictures when I get home. We went to Longwood Gardens today. WOW. How the REALLY rich live...

Crozet, VA

Oh! How exciting for you. What a way to spend the weekend. I am going to do this one day.....I am going to do this one day.........I am going to do this one day.

Oh! Yes, the really rich are somthing else, aren't they? Some things that I have seen in my day, ( TV mainly, ha-ha) are beyond what I could even dream of. I can imagine the millions that it takes to do the upkeep on some of the landscapes.

I am a bit envious of our City Parks and Recreation Department in what their budgets much be each year. I would be in heaven if I could tap in to the budget of one of these places and spend it on my garden area. I bet I wouldn't have any problem at all with spending it.

For now I will be satisfied with the sales that I shop. Going to Walmart later today and see what they have for fall planting. I was there a week or so ago and saw some dianthus that I hope is still there. I bought some last year and it has been in bloom almost non-stop all year. That was money well spent for sure.

I am also having violas come back up where I planted them last fall. The little pansy looking things are so small and delicate. Not at all like myself. Hmmmmm.......if I were a flower or plant, what would I be? Think about it and describe it and yourself. What a fun topic. Gonna start a new topic with that question, please respond. That way we can learn more about each other.

Have a good Sunday all.

Can't wait to see your pictures, kb. Never been to Longwood Gardens, but seen it on TV.

Ruby, if you have a Lowes near you, stop in their garden section, I have done a few plant rescues there for 25˘ and up; the plants will love you for it!

Hi Chris - I helped out a few plants at Walmart yesterday afternoon. I bought two houseplants for $1 each. They really need some help soon. I also purchased 4 dianthus. The pots of dianthus had several different colors in each one. I need to repot them soon too.

Today and tomorrow I have doctor appointments. Not sure if I will be able to work with them today or tomorrow either. Last year I bought two dianthus from Walmart and was thrilled with them. They stayed green all winter and have bloomed their little heads off this summer. I kept thinking they were dead and deadheaded them and saved the seed. Usually a day or two after deadheading, I would be rewarded with some really sweet blooms.

I think it was yesterday that I was looking at another forum and saw a new to me plant. "Moses in the cradle." I found one of those yesterday and am excited about trying to bring it back to life for indoors.
