From Brent and Becky’s Bulbs 18 varieties of daffodils and 14 varieties of tulips, and others. Guided tour (weather permitting) of EJC Arboretum led by Dr. Norlyn Bodkin at 11 a.m. No prior signup required for tour, please assemble at Welcome Board in arboretum.

Bulbs Available:

Daffodils

Abba - double sport of N. 'Cragford' with 3-5 florets per stem; white with orange flecked center segments and a heavenly fragrance; forces with minimal cold period; 14"-16"; spicy fragrance; early-midseason.

Accent - an American bred daffodil with crisp white petals and a sun proof, salmon pink cup; an up facing, vigorous grower that shows up beautifully through ivy and vinca; the best landscape pink; 14"-16"; mid spring.

Angel Eyes - an exquisitely formed, American bred flower with a red/orange banded, green-eye; late spring; 12"-14".

Bahama Beach - (N. 'Kissproof' x N. jonquilla, 7 Y-Y); the color reminds of a sandy beach...hence the name! great fragrance and lots of flowers; 16"-20"; mid-late spring

Barbie Doll – white, yellow and pink combo - a precious intermediate sized show winner that also performs nicely in the garden and in pots, large cupped, mid-spring bloom.

Brackenhurst - a very reliable yellow/orange/red for the garden and one that also wins ribbons on the show bench; a great 55 mph flower; 12"-16"; mid spring.

Cameo Queen - lovely intermediate-sized white/pink daffodil a perfect choice for the front or middle of the border or in a container; 1970; late mid spring; 8"-12".

Cheerfulness - creamy white, flowers with yellow flecks in its rose-like center; this Heirloom cultivar has 2-3 florets per stem and has a sweet, musky fragrance; good perennializer; 1923; 14'-16'; late.

Chromacolor - its pure white petals are in perfect contrast to its very deep coral pink large cup, which intensifies as it goes deeper into the interior; 14"-17"; mid-late spring

Dactyl - a lovely rounded flat white flower with a wonderfully contrasting small cup of deep gold with a green eye and dark red ribbon of a rim; great garden week flower; late spring; 12"-14"

February Gold - one of the most reliable, reblooming perennial bulbs; all yellow, blooms in February; petals, not as recurved as some others in this division; 12"-14"; early.

Fortissimo - a gargantuan, showy daffodil with yellow crepe paper-type petals and a big orange cup; strong stemmed and is a great companion with other bulbs; 18"-20"; midseason.

Jamestown - a beautiful, blue-ribbon winner that also performs in the garden; 14"-17"; late-mid spring.

La Belle - precious little intermediate flower that gives a garden a bright spot and lots of color punch; great in pots; 6"-10"; late-mid spring.

Madison - a lovely double form of N.'Sweet Charity' with the same wonderful fragrance and the coloration of 'Dreamsicle' popsicle and whipped cream. 14"-16"; mid spring.

O'Bodkin - one of our very own seedlings named for friend, Dr. Norlyn Bodkin, Director Emeritus, of Arboretum at James Madison University; variable coloration; 10"-14"; mid spring.

Pink Charm - elegant flower with pure white petals and vivid, pink banded cup that stops people in their tracks; often with two flowers per stem; 14"-16"; late-midseason.



Tulips

Douglas Bader - the softest 'baby girl' pink you've ever seen; a long time favorite of many gardeners; 14"-18".

Easter Surprise - the warm yellow petals intensify in color to the point that it becomes tangerine orange at the tips; grabs your visual attention with its bright, neon colors which is enhanced with decorative, mottled leaves; mid-spring, 12"-14". 5 @ $5

Elegant Lady - as its name suggests, this is a very elegant, graceful flower; its slim, pointy petals about the color of butter cream frosting with a pale pink overlay look so yummy in the garden, especially in the midst of violas; 16"-20".

Fringed Elegance - a great perennial tulip; primrose yellow with an occasional red fleck or edge; try it yellow pansies; 20"-22".

Gavota - very dark burgundy flower with a pale yellow edging, adding a halo to this lovely, but mysterious looking tulip; mid-spring, 16"-18.

Holland Chic - on the 'runway' for tulip designers, this is a winner! 13"-17"; white and pink;
late to mid -spring.

humilis 'Persian Pearl' - a buttercup yellow base supports the magenta rose petals; interior cyclamen purple; a colorful combination; 3"-4".

Maureen - tetraploid, a very long stemmed, creamy white with large, oval shaped flowers; provides 'light' in the garden no matter where it's placed; blooms with and looks great with T. 'Menton'; 25"-27".

New Design - lovely pink tulip with pale, creamy yellow base and ivory suffused throughout exterior; inside darker pink; special white, tinged pink edges to the leaves; attractive foliage plant like a hosta before, during and after bloom; 14"-16".

Purple Prince - deep bluish purple; similar shade as grape juice; petals have a slight scalloping around its edges; 12"-14".

Quebec - colors of scarlet, chartreuse and buttercup yellow, combines with decorative foliage, this multi-flowered tulip is a show stopper; mid-spring, 10"-14".

Redhill -the color of the narrow, bright red/orange cup 'melts' onto the base of the clear, white petals; strong, upfacing show-winner; 16"-18"; late-mid spring.

turkestanica - white petals with orange center; multi-flowering and fragrant; a great repeat bloomer; early; 6"-8".

humilis 'Alba Coerulea Oculata' - exquisite white tulip with steel blue base; delicate but strong; mid spring; 6"-8"
