Hi does anyone have seed of this plant? It often grows as a weed in warm areas like florida and hawaii.
I have a long list to swap if anyone has this.
Thanks
Mike
Cruel Plant
You got me curious with the name, but I found a page for it in PF, http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/31526/index.html
species seems to be Araujia sericifera
dang, mike, i want some too.
Wish I could say I had that growing as a weed... instead I have a stinky vine, which I'd be happy to hack off and send. I actually know the seedpods on this one, as they are bright orange that open to spit out bright red seeds and have an unpleasant aroma to them.
Just let me know if you're interested....
;)
Sorry to say I can't help with your vine- I have never seen that vine anywhere in SoFla that I've been, and I'm usually on the lookout whenever I see an undeveloped piece of land, as well as peoples' yards.
Good luck :)
Don't know what the plant is, but that is a beautiful butterfly :o)

That's a beautiful vine, I hope you find one and grow lots of seeds to share!

you might ask busybee since "she" is the one that took that picture. hello lea.

these were sold by an unscrupulous ebay seller 10 seeds for around £40 high bid, misnamed and misrepresented, and guess where they were bought from?
It is a little more cruel than just trapping the moth overnight, it traps it by the tongue, if you really wish to be cruel to the moths...
Tried plantworld and the seed never grew. Contacted them and they answered with "there funny so might take some time" Just wondered if it had to be fresh seed as i tried old seed and that never grew. But had fresh seed before and they grew like weeds.
On the ethics of the flowers... does the camera man stop the leopard catching the deer and eating it? Its natural. And a great unusual evergreen.
Much prefer doing swaps rather than buying.
Natural in it's own natural location perhaps, it's likely to need to trap a certain type of moth in order to pollinate it.
I don't remember the last time I saw a leopard chasing deer in this country.
Good luck with your search.
Summerhillseeds.com has seeds for this vine at %3.25/package.
Mike, I finally found my seeds. I have a few that I could trade you for. I got them this year from a seller on ebay.
