This morning my Kopper King surprised me with two quite different flowers on the same stalk! The first shots are the flower at the top of the primary stalk.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Kopper King? Other hardy hibiscus?

Flower variations on Kopper King
Hi there....I don't have Kopper King as yet and I am quite new to Hardy Hibs.
Frankly....I think both blooms are beautiful. Did you grow them from seed?
jeannine these blooms are beautiful. thanks for showing them. barb
Hi Jeannine,
I've seen something similiar in other hibs both tropical and hardy. A couple of my yellow tropical plants will sometimes have a tinge of pink in the petals. In fact I had a hardy red one bloom with 6 and 7 petals verus the normal 5. You never know what surprise you will get growing these beauties.
Wow I really ike this one.
Are the flowers different ages? I don't have this particular plant, but I've noticed on other hibiscus that sometimes older flowers will fade a bit and look paler than the newer ones, similar to how your lower flower has more white on the petals and the first one has more pink.
Let's see if I can find and answer the questions!
First, Bings Bell, no, I did not grow this plant from seed. I bought it at a local nursery as one of my first hardy hibiscus.
Second, the flowers are the same age - both were just opening this morning when I was out with my camera. That's what surprised me so much. At first I thought they were flowers from two different plants, but they are on the same stalk!
Thank you all for the nice comments - this is about my favorite hardy hibiscus, at least of the plants I have in my yard.

My Kopper King does the same thing ! The flowers look just like your pics. I have wondered abt it. One time the darker pink appeared shortly after I fertilized the plant but then I noticed they also appeared without recent fertilization. Very interesting.
