To everyone in the Tampa Bay area, USF Botanical Gardens is having their annual Gesneriad Gala this weekend. http://www.cas.usf.edu/garden/ I went last year and it was a lot of fun with knowledgeable people and great prices. The Tampa Bay Genseriad Society folks will be there to answer questions and ooh and ahh over all the plants. Last year they gave my mother and I a wonderful talk on all the different kinds of gesneriads. This is the one gardening event my mother gets super excited over. She has a black thumb - except when it comes to gesneriads. It's weird. She'd kill everything in the yard if I let her, but she has a whole colony of gesneriads growing happily in her bathroom. And for anyone who hasn't been to a Home Depot in the Tampa area lately - they still have chrysothemis "Black Flamingo" - $4 for a quart-sized plant in bloom! (I bought two.)

I hope you have a great time at the gesneriad show. Lucky you being able to buy gessies at the HD and for such a bargain price!
