I'm so excited, my seedling has a Y! Too bad I'm in Canada (Ottawa, Zone 4b/5a) in September. It will probably be too cold to bloom now in September, but hope abides. This is a seed from kell, view the progeny in my journal.
I think I have a y!!!
Yes! You have a Y!!! WTG .. Too big to dig up and bring inside I presume.

This is a seedling in a 2-gallon pot, in a larger pot, so I will be bringing it in for winter. I wonder if the stress of low temperatures made it go Y. Of course, I also wonder if it will bloom before the killing frost. What an adventure this is.
PS I continue with 15-30-15 weekly, alternating with 10-52-10, both at half-strength.
I am a newbie and still learning. What is a Y?

Sooooooooooooo Andy, your brug Yed so short when you were only feedling it a high phosphorous fertilizer? How long ago did you germinate the seeds? Which cross is it?
Brugs tend to drop their buds if the light suddenly decreases. So you may lose it if it is still on the smaller side when you move it inside. But the good news is it will bloom real early for you next spring.
I love your combo planting at the bottom.
Sherri, we all wait for our Ys because that means the plant is now capable of blooming, it blooms only Y wood.
Here is Andy's Y. The first buds often are in the crotch of this first Y. And then each side of the Y (marked 1 and 2) will Y itself and then as it grows each new Y forms a Y on each side all the way up and it keep setting buds. So it Ys on Ys on Ys...... like a pyramid of Ys.

Here is the progeny:
Packet of 5 seeds from Kell. Parents are Rosamond [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com] x Rothkirch [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]
Hope this makes sense. I copied this from my journal.
That should be a good match. Big pink blooms with long tendrils. LOL Is that all I sent you? How cheap am I?
Not cheap, I treasured each seed!
I hope we get a September heatwave, not unusual here. I might get a bloom yet.
Now I have to learn how to overwinter these treasures.
