Yay for you! It's SO exciting! You're eye will probably catch them from now on. I have some now that are so big and so bright and they just float and glide all over. I just love them!

Beautiful picture! Mind if I ask what kind of camera you are using?

Thanks, it's a Digital Canon EOS 20D. It's not cheap but though I hated to spend that much money (hubby insisted since I love to take pics), it was well spent! But I have taken GREAT pics with much cheaper digitals, like the one below.

Dear Ladyborg,

That was a fantastic photo of the Monarch. What kind of plant did the flower come from? Thanks for sharing...

Thanks again,

Chuck

Very cool! I was totally thrilled when I saw my first visitor.

The plant is a butterfly bush (Buddleia Davidii) Black Knight. In my opinion, the best color, deep purple.

Ladyborg,

Thanks!! I didn't recognize the flowers. Ironically I have a Black Knight but, while it attracts butterflies, I can't see the blooms (which also aren't as nice as yours) most of the time because it is covered by a citrus tree. LOL

Thanks again,

Chuck

I have noticed Buddleias do best in full p.m. sun.

Oh how gorgeous ladyborg! Both the monarch and the buddlia :) I can't wait till I have some like that next year...and maybe a monarch or two also!

Great photos.

No problem. When you see this thread, there should be an "edit" under your name and it should allow you to delete the extra ones. Thanks for sharing the pics, they are beautiful! I saw another one this weekend (or perhaps it's the same one), I'm sooooooooo excited to finally get some cool butterflies. I have plenty of Fritillaries and Sulphurs and Swallowtails too.
