Dogs & Grapes/Raisins = renal failure

Pennsauken, NJ(Zone 6b)

Just wanted to share something I learned today at the vet during an emergency visit with my dog.

The vet said researchers learned about four years ago that giving dogs grapes or raisins will cause renal failure. I'm sharing it here because I had never heard this before and hopefully it might help someone.

Fortunately, my dog didn't have grape poisoning today. I was lucky. It was while we were going over all possible things she could have been exposed to that were out of the ordinary, i.e.; rabbits in my yard a lot lately, my feeding the birds raisins of late, etc that he told me about the grapes/raisins poisoning dogs. I'm very surprised I've never heard this before.

In her case, after many lab tests and blood tests, turns out the culprit for my little wee one was the rabbits, or rather, their droppings. Seems someone I know has a taste for them. (eww gross!)

Anyway, I thought I would share this info about the grapes.
