What is your best way to repair a three inch pond liner tear.
Was cleaning my bog vegie garden and caught the liner.
pond liner patch
The last time I had a leak. I found some liner patching tape at Lowes. Much cheaper than at the nursery. It is a double sided tape. Clean around the tear with soap & water as good as you can. then use sand paper and buff it . if that still doesn't clean it to a nice smothe black color of the liner, use some litghter fluid and a rag. carbon tet. or PVC joint cleaner, will also work. Being careful to keep it fromgetting in the water if you have any in the pond. then clean a piece of the liner that is either extra or from an area that is always out of the water, clean it in the same manner.Dry off all the area on both the small piece and the liner to be patched. cut the small liner piece you are using so that it and the tape are the same size and will cover the tear sufficiently. Unroll enough of the tape and stick it to the patch. Place a small board behind the liner . 1x6 or 2x6 as long as it is nice and flat. then stick the patch and tape to the liner. now this is where the board comes in. you will need to use a roller . something like a tire patching roller. Roll the patch really good to assure that the double sided tape has sealed. Of course you have to make sure that the aera being patched stays flat the whole time you are rolling the patch. That is it. remove board put liner back in place. double check that patch area is clean. let patch cure some . If pond has less than 500 gallons I would let it set over night. If it is a large pond I would wash the area with a biodegradable soap and water. and fill pond. Reason for wating for a smaller pond is any consintration of any remaining cleaning solvents would be greater in a small pond. Your fish don't like contaminates like that. Always clean the area with soap and water after patching. for safty. The difference in price was $19. per foot at Earl Mays.
$14. for a 25 foot roll at lowes. Go figure!!
Good luck. " Russ."
