Does she have a new 'name' or did she leave Dave's?
Where IS Alison?
I think she is busy with a move and such. Someone else can give better details...

Thank you - I didn't want anything - just missed her valuable input on our forum.
Hi Kay,
There is a lot of valuable input from many learned members...our group does not depend on any one person...it is a combined effort which is very much appreciated by all.

I too really miss Allison and her valueable knowledge. Oh and her pretty pictures of her beautiful flowers on the forum...Lauri
To me, she is the sweetest, kindest person ,and I miss her input!
*ahem*
Please, let's not start another one of "those" threads where expressions of concern and support turn into exchanges of hostility. We've already had at least one thread removed and another thread blocked by admin... please, let's protect the atmosphere of warmth and generosity on our forum. I know I'm premature in posting a cautionary note here, but I'm trying for that "ounce of prevention." *steps off soapbox* Thanks!
I've been glad to see Allison posting here & there, if not with her previous frequency. I'm guessing she's just taking a bit of a break and concentrating on other concerns right now.
We are fortunate to have many active participants in this forum, and those who take a break for any reason -- such as Susanne's recent wedding, or MsC's big move, or Heather's break for summer gardening, or Allison's conflict with another DGer -- everybody's input is missed when they're absent!
I've been missing Lorry and begoniacrazii lately too, and I'm hoping they'll be more active here again over the winter.... :-)
Thanks for the missing and kind words ! Nice to hear them while your still on Earth HEHE :))
It's nice to post you miss someone and your concerns and how they are. We have so many threads in our AV forum of us all missing and concerned and saying nice things about each other ! This is a wonderful caring selfless forum !
Just beacause someone says something nice about someone or they miss someone does not mean there are not other nice people and we miss others. We are all wonderful people and it's so nice to see people saying kind words about others always ! Kind words are good to post !
If someone does not have something nice to say then this can be left not posted .
When I first joined this Forum there were only 17 pages of postings.. so many now and so many saying we miss you, where is someone, how is someone and nice things about someone . Hope you all keep posting sweet things about each other !
I don't have much around that is not still being ship to others. But Danile bloomed for me yesterday ! They like cooler weather and still in the 90's here each day soon when it's cooler he will bloom more !
This is not a Gesneraid but back in Feb/March.. Lali wanted one of these exotic hybicus trees Bushes ? But they would charge $20.00 to ship it to Ca. So she asked if she could ship it to my home here in Florida then when she was visiting she brought them back in here suitcase ! Well she bought two different types for herself and bought me one also ! I know it was very expensive. It was tiny in 4 inch pot maybe a single stick not many leaves. BUT WOW now mine is about 3-4 feet and wide and dozens and dozens of branches, and now has zillions of buds . They flowers look like Exotic umbrellas. Most coolest Hibiscus. This was the first flower last week. Yesterday it had 4 and now wow yes it has zillions of buds ! Of course we will be taking it with us when we move and it will go in our front yard ! We love it ! I'll post it in Hybiscus land too. I forget the name of it.
Lali did your's grow ? Have they bloomed for you too !
Allison, Hi there. WOW, what pretty pics. Love Danile, it's so bright.
Critter....Winter?...No, please I am not ready for winter. LOL chores are stacking up here and I am having the time trying to get them done.
Lorry or begoniacrazii what are you up to??
Lauri
begoniacrazii is Lali and she gave me the Hybiscus above isn't it the coolest ! I got a Dmail from Lorry when she got her plants from me and she has been busy and a third new puppy :)) They fount stranded.
Hard to beleive it's September. But oh it's soo hot here. 90's non-stop . I am looking forward to cooler weather. I love Floridas winters !
That is one of the coolest Hybiscus ever!! I love them but my yard is a tad full for anymore unless I start removing lawn...Lorry has a third puppy?? wow I hope it works out for her. I love puppies and am looking at a yellow lab one now.
I would give most anything to be in the 90's, here it is still in the 100's and the winds are starting to pick up in the afternoons. Not good for all the wildfires burning here.
Lauri
WOW your still in the 100's man.. We are in the 90's mid to high everday for months no break in sight. A/C goes non-stop. Thank God we have it though. Sometimes we never get any cool weather year round but sure like it when it does cool down some !
The first time I saw our Hybicus blooming I was wow. It's at the end of my ramp. Precious had wanted to go out it was real hot. I went and got the camera . Then my wheel chair stopped and we were stuck. it was like 96 hot. in the sun :(( Luckly a neighbor came by and she could not push me but went and got another neighbor to give me a push up the ramp and into our home and plugged me in. Gosh we were lucky someone stoped ! I can't breath good in this heat.
Wow thank heavens for the neighbor!! How is Precious doing? She is such a sweetheart. You have the humidity too when it's hot, right? We had some when it hit 115 and 45% humidity for a week, I thought I would melt. Here it is dry and hot and the winds suck out the moisture out of everything. All of my Hydrangeas are not happy with the winds. LOL brb have to start the sprinklers before sunrise....
That hibiscus is so wonderful! Nice to see you posting, Allison :)
Sigh...once again I"m struck with zone envy. Except it's 61 degrees this morning and I love the cool air and fall coming... Guess I want my cake and eat it, too!! ~lol
Allison! What a delight to have you posting pictures! You have gotten GOOD with that camera -- those strep photos are gorgeous! And that hibiscus is just stunning. :-)
We had a long dry spell last month, but Ernesto dropped a bunch of rain on us last weekend, and it's been raining steadily again since early morning. It's nice to be past that triple digit heat spell, but I know I'll think back on summer fondly if we get ice storms this winter! Like Planti, I want to have my cake & eat it too! LOL
Thank you for updating us, Allison - it's wonderful to know you are doing ok.
Hi Allison,Wonderful pictures.
Hi ! Hi ! :))
I just love our Hibiscus ! It's so cool. Foliage is nice and different and full and bushy too ! And it grew like Jack in the Bean Stalk !
I forgot the name maybe I can find it in my favorites or in plant files. I know it was not cheap. Lali has the best taste .
As hot as it is I am lucky to have any blooms except from Epsicas they love it ! And the Streps are near the A/C vent they like this even though we keep it 82-84 and it goes non-stop. We never know if we will get cool weather but it will be wel-comed !
We were also Blessed Ernesto was heading right for us and it turned and weakended . New York got it though. Hope Bob and Lorry did not get it. We did not get any wind or rain from it. We have been getting rain but not from Ernesto
Allison,
Stuck in a run out of energy wheelchair is the pits. I've been there and done that and certainly glad someone helped you.
It is so good to see you posting again Allison. I sure do miss you when you are not here. You plants are all beautiful as usual.
While it is true that our group does not depend on any one person, they are nevertheless still missed and I think that it is okay to say so. We are all part of a wonderful group of people here. I love all of you guys and would miss any of you if you haven't posted for a while. I think it shows how concerned and caring we are when someone posts about a missing member of our group.
Jesse
Diane it is horrible and scary to get stuck outside hubby was not home. And I can't breath good in the heat/ Precious and I was stuck out in the street along the home as we had checked mail also. I think my batteries are getting very old but can't buy new ones. Thank God for good neighbors !
Jesse your the sweetest. Everyone is missed and everyone is important :)) Everyone is special and it is ok to say so :))
I don't have many plants just ones I have promised out but that's good just can't take care of them. I have some Begonias too their easy for me. When we do move we have a screen in front porch about 24 by 12 ft. I think I may be able to grow some Begonias and streps and Chiritas out there !
Their all wonderful !
You're right -- everyone is missed when they're not posting, and I love the concern on this forum. Thanks everyone for not taking my comments above in a negative way and for keeping this thread so positive and supportive! I love this forum!
Allison, I can't wait to see what you do with that front porch space after your move. :-)
Sorry,posted in wrong forum.

Hi Allison,
Good to see you post. I rarely pop over here anymore and due to space constraints with the new kid I've taken in, I have given away most of my duplicate named and unnamed optimaras on freecycle. I'm keeping just 1 each of everything named.
I've been busy in the pet dept also this week as I added a new 4 legged child to the household. I've always wanted a lap dog but for some reason end up with 90 pounders who think they are. Here is a quick picture of my new, as yet unnamed puppy. Mom is a reg. pug and dad is a 4 lbs Yorkie who had high hopes. LOL

Forgot to add this before.
Also glad to see you posting Allison, and hope all's well, despite the setback!
Bless your neighbors!
Awww....budgielover.....if you ever want to trade *that sweetie* (LOL!) just let me know....(haha....as if you would!)
Jan I love your new Pup ! How does it get along with they other ones !
Jan the Orchid you gave me has been blooming ! I have never had an orchid re-bloom for me. It sits out under the trees still in the same pot when you gave it to me I cant beleive the flowers wow beautiful ! Thanks !
Hi Nan !
It will be awhile before we move but dreaming is fun !
Hi Nan,
You'll have to stand in a verrrrry long line. LOL
Allison,
The Belgian shepherd pretty much ignores him. The dalmation-rottie mix is trying to assert his dominance and will occasionally growl if the pup get too close but it is getting less frequent. They are not left unsupervised and the pup is crated in my room when no one is home so there's no problem. They will all adjust with time. It's the first time in 4 years that we've had a new addition in the family. Glad the orchid is blooming for you. It's a pretty oncidium and doesn't require much care.
Jan

Thanks Jan it's wonderful !
Kenton thanks for the link ! Yes that's the Hibiscus Lali gave us ! It was small in 4 inch pot it's grown so big and has zillions of buds opening everyday now ! It not that old either. It's so cool !
*sigh!*
You know Orkidlady,
Your "sighs" are really boring me. If you can't say something nice, just don't say anything.
This message was edited Sep 13, 2006 8:45 AM
No, I'm not assuming the worst, in Orkidlady's interest.
What do you mean, Joanne? Do you like that Hibiscus?
That was my first thought too. A "Sigh" of appreciation.
Hi Kenton,
Oh goodness I even posted to the wrong thread...LOL! That is exactly what I meant...sorry for the misunderstanding..
Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt.
Speaking of Lali, what ever happened to her? Never see her post anymore either. I miss her as well.
Joanne
