When I planted my cuttings in the flower beds last spring I forgot what was already in the flower bed. I am glad that I did. It made a pretty picture and is going to be my next painting. The cutting is Firstday X Rosabelle it has been beautiful and smells as good as it looks.
Strange Bed Fellows
Looks great together!! It really made a beautiful picture.
I really like them both. Very pretty.
Oooh, that's pretty -- cupid blush with your rangoon creeper!! That's a very nice combination!
Your photos are great! May I ask what you fertilize your Rangoon Creeper with? Mine was gorgeous in June, then the next flush was a little less, then nothing but vine and leaves. I was told to use hibiscus fert. on it and I have. We've have quite a drought here, but it's in a pot, gets lots of water and sunshine. Looks healthy, just no blooms. Sandi
Such a pretty picture! I sure envy you for being able to paint!
Both pictures are very nice.
Bonnie
Thank You Sandi. Last year I had no blooms on the R Creepers I also heard to use the hibiscus fert. No one around here had heard of it. I just used M G about once a month. I have two R Cs both are the same age and same size, both are potted the same, both got the same care except the one that is blooming so well gets afternoon sun. The other one gets morning sun. Next year they both will get afternoon sun.
Thank you Bonnie, I do love to paint.
Appreciate the reply...I'm going to stop feeding it hibiscus food!
Just amazes me that the 1st day cross get so dark for you, drats!
What is a Rangoon Creeper & where can I find one? That is very pretty together, I love vines. Bj
Hi BJ. Thanks again for the cuttings of your Firstday X Rosabelle. The Rangoon is a wonderful vine. The flowers open dark red and gradually turn white or pale pink. You won't believe the fragrance. I picked some on Sunday for a flower arangement. Tonight they still smell wonderful.
My R.C. has gotten so big this summer that I am going to have to cut it back to get it in for the Winter. I will see if I can root some for you.
I am going to check with Scooter and see if the Cupids Blush gets dark for her. These plants are planted in an old fish pond that has been filled with bags and bags of potting soil, manure and peat. The sunflowers were just tiny starts last fall and they are over 6' tall. There are Daturas and some pink and white brugs too. Everything in there is doing great. The pond was 3 foot deep, so this group of plants are growing in the best soil on my farm. LOL
This is the Cupids Blush shot this afternoon, it's getting darker too.
Betty
Beautiful!! Your pictures are always so wonderful.
Judy
Great photos. Don't you just love the accidents that can happen in the garden.
Dott
Awesome pics! I love the combo and would love to see a picture of your paintings! What a treat that would be!
I took some photos to a guy to draw for me and never heard back from him.. I'm dyin to get a drawing or painting.. That would just top the cake. Two green thumbs up on your talents picabo.
I love your pictures, and the brugs. and accompanying flowers are gorgeous.
Thanks Judy, Dott, ZZ and JM
This section of the garden has been so pretty this year.
ZZ... I am leaving tomorrow for a long weekend trip to Wisc. Well more like a week. LOL My daughter is in an art show and I always love to see her art. I plan to start the new painting as soon as I get home. Already have the board on the easel. I'll post a pic when it is finished.
Betty
What great subjects for a painting. Just so beautiful. Can you show us some of your work?
How exciting that your daughter is so talented. What kind of things does she like to paint?
Hi Kell, My daughter is a wonderful artist. She loves to paint wildlife and southwestern subjects. She usually paints in oil. Right now she is painting large colorful paintings. Here is her Blog address if you want to look at some of her work. She makes a mother proud.

The show that we are going to is the Birds in Art show. Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum in Wausau, Always a wonderful show.
I'll post some of my paintings after we get back home.
Betty
I just opened Lyn's Blog and it didn't show the paintings. She has already left for WIsc. I'll check with her and find out where the paintings are. LOL
Betty
WOW it would be impossible to pick your favorite here. All are just incredible. Her awards are amazing too. I bet you are so proud. Such talent!
I can't wait to see your art too! Hurry back.
I can see them all! I love her Wading Birds selection. Especially Preening and Feather Light.
Thank you Kell, her Blog can be overwhelming. So much talent and she is such a wonderful, interesting person! I don't know if you noticed but she shoots all of her reference photos too.
She does a big art show at the Waterfowl Festival in Maryland in the fall so she always has lots of wading birds for that show. It's OK for a Mother to brag isn't it? LOL
Don't be too anxious to see my work, not much compared to her.
I think it was my puter not letting me load the pictures.
Betty
I am all in favor of bragging rights of a parent. LOL. I have been known to do it too. LOL
Your girl must make it hard not to brag about her. I was looking at that painting of her by the "About the Artist" link. She looks gorgeous too.
And CONGRATULATIONS to her on all her shows. She must be good!
Just don't let Betty fool you! She is such an awsome artist!!! Betty, you need to show everyone your peacock! It's just beautiful!!!
Of course she get's it from Mom.

So...So.. Beautiful Betty. What a wonderful flower bed of strange bed fellows.. LOL
The Rangoon and Brug sure make a wonderful combo. It must be a wonderful fragrance combination also.
I took a quick look at your Daughter's paintings. Lets just say I'm speechless! I will need to go back later on in the week and look closer. I sure would love to see your paintings also.
Thanks for sharing your garden with us.
Thank you meag... Her father was a very successful artist who died way before his time. All three of my children are very artistic. They sorta got a double dose of the artist genes. LOL
Thank You Kin...Lyn lives in your part of the country now. She is in Montana and travels to Oregon quite often. Reference for several of her paintings were shot in OR, I think that the one she has in the Birds in Art Show was shot in OR.
That is just so awesome. You have every right to be proud of your daughter. :) And, I'd like to see your paintings as well. That is such a tremendous gift to have -- to be artistic and show everything through artwork!
Picabo, your daughter sounds like a delightful person, I was riveted to her journal writings. I know I have seen her paintings before, especially the fox jumping, ( forgot the caption.) She is quite the artist, you have every right to be proud! You done good, Mom! Bj
