I'm so excited!

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

A couple weeks ago Allison sent me an Alsobia Cygnet and I looked at it a few minutes ago and it had bloomed. I've never had one of these before so I've never seen one in bloom in real life. It is so so cool.

Beautiful! Love the spots and fringe.....

Isn't that the most amazing bloom? I'm so excited every time mine pops out with a new bud.... I can only hope someday our baby plants will be half as huge and ever-blooming as the one Allison has posted photos of!

That's so gorgeous!!

Snowrose, mine is putting out a few stolons again... I think I cut off the last ones before the leaves got big enough, so I'll give these a little more time... but if you'd like one, I've got you covered (eventually). :-)

I think this is one that everyone on our forum will eventually end up with through trades, and I'll best most of them will be traced back to that plant that Allison saved from a quarter inch scrap of a thing. Cool.

Thanks to all of you for all the compliments. I'm trying to find more of these plants. I think they might be my new addiction.

There is a great link about training your Cygnet in our second Gesneraid Sticky too ! These are the most fun ! Easiest plants to grow ! They do like it warm and humidity. :))
Your flower is so exotic Jesse. It can grow real big and full. They do like it warm, humid and more moist and food. If you can put it right under light it will grow better darker green larger leaves. I just have window light . As they grow you keep taking the babies, stolons off and they will root in a week or so, when babies slow down move your cygnet to a new pot they don't need to be tight. This encourages more babies ! When you get it to the size fullenss you like I have grown many into 6-12 inch pots. Let the stolons grow flow gracfuly down the sides of your pot and they will bloom too !
They open two flowers at a time so the more crowns you'll have a pot of flowers and babies down the side blooming all the time ! Their a real treasure !

Yes, I can see that they are a real treasure. Thanks so much for sending it to me. I was looking on Rob's Violets site last night to see what kind they had for sale. They are sold out of all of them except for one. Where do you all buy these types of plants other than Rob's?

Critter....thank you so much for your sweet offer, but I already grow this variety.

LOL, Snowrose -- I guess I'd be surprised if this one wasn't already in your collection! Hopefully I'll have a few other things that you'd like... I'm looking forward to getting together with you some time & doing an in-person trade!

And for anyone else, it looks like I should have several Alsobia 'Cygnet' plantlets to offer next spring (or small stolons that could probably be sent like leaves in fall boxes).

On your wish list Jan ! Ok great I have several good size plant growing ! And one or two can go in the boxes I owe you :)) I trans-planted about a dozen out of their solo cups or small pots as they grow so well ! So one will be coming your way with the others set aside for you :))
