Hello,
We have just joined Dave's Garden and have never been on-line asking questions....but we need help !
We just moved to Tonasket, Wa. (pop. 1000) and we do not know our zone..We think it is 5.
We have only roses on this property so far and We were wondering if anyone in this area knows what plants grow well in this area. Thanks Julie from THYME4U

I need advice
rutholive is in Tonasket and she lists as Zone 5a.
thyme, welcome to DG!
Julie from THYME4U, I had a summer home just noth of you about 30 miles in Osoyoos, BC. The information is generally correct about zone 5 .... however. If you think all your zone 5 plants will live there ..... think again. Go up to Oroville and look around at the homes. You'll see most of the flora to be zone 4 plants. I am a 3.5 hour drive south of you in the Yakima Valley and we don't consider having plants that are zone 5. Invariably they all die if they are not Zone 4 or lower. Having great protection from the wind via buildings and trees and fencing combined will help you to get zone 5 plants to last longer. There are so many great Zone 4 and 3 plants that to spend money on plants that die becomes a source of irritation. Trust me .... they'll die sooner or later. I've been through Tonasket many many times. My Aunt lives in Loomis.
Julie - welcome! You really do need to be in touch with Donna (Rutholive) - I see her quite a bit in http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/689002/ (Winter Begins: What's it like in your area 4). Fun thread - lots of great winter pictures.
