About 6 months ago I posted how I have one of the most challenging yards to work with. Woodland, shade, sloped, surrounded by california oak trees, blah blah.
It was this wonderful group that turned me onto Brugs. I was sent a few cuttings and I had to share my results. The cutting grew into two branches, but I think I might have planted it wrong, because once the blooms starting comings, one of the branches broke all the way off. So I lost the entire one half of the plant. But I am not crying, I have cut it down into 3 separate Y's and placed them in water to root and I will just plant them in other locations.
I am not certain what this one is called. The actual blooms look very light yellow, but when it opens it looks white. There is very little fragrance. Are there some brugs that are more fragrant than others?

Anyway - I am so very happy, words are just not enough. I actually have a blooming plant in my yard, surrounded by impatients which I luckily found out do very well in my condition.
Thank you
Sherri

Sounds like you live in a pretty part of California. I need to look up Silverado on the map. I bet in Zone 9B, you can leave them in the ground year round and yours will get huge.
Yes, some are so fragrant I find them too overwhelming at night. And if you have a bunch blooming together it can really get to be too much.
Welcome to our nuts for brugs group!
Sherri... Looks like you got the brug bite. Congrats!!!
I found out last night that my brugs smell fantastic. I was wrong. I didnt think it was possible, but I love them even more.
The large branch that broke off from the main tree - I cut into 3 Y's and put them in water. I tried to keep as many of the blooms as possible. Almost all the blooms opened. It is so pretty.
Kell - I dont want to brag - but yes, I live in a gorgeous area.
Here is a quickie photo of my broken branch brugs.
Sherri, it sounds like you live in a beautiful area. I am so happy that you have found that brugs will thrive for you and I can understand how thrilled you were to see blooms. I love the brugs that fill the evening air with fragrance.....even the ones that you can smell long before you get close to them.
Thank you !!! I went over to my friends home and she yellow brug with pretty tendrils. She lives in the sister canyon next to me (Modjeska Canyon - named after lady modjeska). She is giving me a cutting. I cant wait.
