This poor brug has undergone some stressful times, way too hot, then too dry, then too much rain and now it is in the 60s it is loaded with buds but they all look deformed, one is open and crooked, and the buds are twisted, but she still strugles through.
POOR WHISKERS
Because of the heat, drought, I took just about all the leafs off my brugs, to the Ys, they look like brug Palm trees. They are loaded with buds, so I hope they bloom, now that it has cooled down. Taking the leaves off was the only way I could figure to reduce their stress. I hope yours comes around and blooms for you, the color is good and the leafs are pretty...good luck!!
Oh too bad, Doris. I hope the blooms do much better for you. I was looking at a pink one of mine today that has weird blooms, I was thinking mites but maybe not. Tomorrow I need to look closer.
Well she is blooming but this weather is crazy, last week we were in the 90s now we almost need heat on it is only 58 this morning, and one of my brugs is dropping all her buds.
Could your brug be dropping buds because of the sudden temperate change?
I'm sorry you're having such a difficult year!!
It has been a frustrating year for me too growing brugs. I have had so few blooms all summer and I also had some that were crinkled and crooked. I don't know if it was from insects biting them or if when the buds were forming, it got very hot. It seems most brug growers have not had a good year and it is probably because more of you experienced hotter temps than are usual for your area. My summer was not hotter than usual but it has always been a problem for me to have pretty summer blooms.
BrugNanny a lot of my brugs are deformed like that, I am sure it was the awful heat
