This is a seedling I grew from Jim Little seeds 10 yrs back. I sold extras at a farmers market here in town at that time. Well downtown near my planters a Thai Jeweler had this plant in his shop for many yrs. Never occured to me I sold it to them. I asked for a cutting in trade for a pink, and now I have this one again, very unusual color, a white base with an orange gold eye, and a pink stripe on the reverse.

Re-united after 10 yrs.
very nice Kyle, looks like a flower egg and I like the pink on the reverse, adds interest and beauty. Glad you were able to get a cutting back of it
Awesome!!
How great to have it back again!!
Shes a beauty for sure!!
Stunningly beautiful, Kyle. You should name and register that baby. I don't think I've seen another quite like it. What a lovely story too;-)
Jim Little in Hawaii sent me the seeds as a mixture of crosses so who knows what the parentage is.He sent me many different crosses. This plant has real thick sturdy stems,Very robust grower. The flowers seem to call you over to look at it when you pass by.The plant sits on a street in a very large pot, in front of the Jewelry store, This year I have to remind him to take it in sooner in the fall. they tend to leave it outside too late. This isn't Thailand after all. Feels like it in summer tho.
We will see if the cutting I got makes it then maybe see about registering it.
What a treasure. I am glad you got it back and hope your cutting roots and thrives. You probably already know this, being the excellent grower that you are, but bottom heat is the key to rooting cuttings. A soil temp of 80 degrees or higher is ideal for the rooting process. If you are getting a wide temp swing at night, bring your cutting inside and put it on a heat mat at night and then bring it back out on hot cement during the day. Don't let the soil dry out or get cold. I can't help thinking of Kimo when I look at yours. Kimo has a stunning orange center like yours and has a reputation for being difficult to root and easy to rot. It sounds like special precautions are the way to go with this one, and definitely help the owners look out for the parent plant. It would be a shame to lose this one;-)
Looks like its own little sunburst...very nice!!
I'm thinking Ellen #15 as a parent to this one! Beautiful!
Brad
Brad, what color is Ellen #15 ?
Yes this seedling is different. has a nice light frangipani scent , the flowers aren't the largest I have seen ,but are marked nice.

Hetty, I couldn't remember the measurements which is why I said "fairly big." LOL! Here is HawaiiSandy's picture and description: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42353&item=220016791114 It is described as "getting close to six inches across."
My Leticia is just about 6"

I really like the big ones:-) I know of several that are six inches across.
Kyle,
Just beautiful! I love white with the gold eye - very, very nice.
