Self-Blue & Chocolate Ripple Muscovies

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Alot of people aren't aware that Muscovies come in a variety of solid colors such as black, chocolate, blue, cream, lilac and so on.
Here are some of my 2006 Muscovy ducklings.

"Chocolate Ripples"
Ripples don't lose there markings liked barred Muscovies.

Self Blues (different than blues) are so striking.
These photos don't do their plumage color justice but it gives you an idea.
Pict. here...3 self blues and 1 dark ripple.

We use to have muscovies many years ago. Mostly blk 7 whites. One big blue drake was so pretty. I knew that they come in the other colors but don't recall seeing them. We had some chocolates too come to think of it. Yours are so pretty.

I had no idea. They are gorgeous. I esp love the chocolates. Wait, maybe it's just the name.

Gwen...one can never have too much chocolate.
I have 2 chocolate hens named 'Godiva' and 'Truffle'.
~SIGH~ I'm afraid I have a one track mind ;-)

Leaflady...show stock comes in solid colors as well as magpie, barred and ripple markings.
The barreds lose their markings after they molt but the ripples don't.
I love the solid colors especially the self blues and chocolate ripples.

Are the hens chocolate just because of their names or the breed? Post photos!

No they are actually called chocolates.
They are brown colored.

No, I didn't mean the ducks. I thought when you said hens you were talking about chickens.

Oh sorry...sometimes breeding age female ducks are called hens.
