We live in the country on about 5 acres. I grow fruits, vegetables, a few herbs, and a lot of flowers. My goal is to turn our yard into a parklike setting so I've spent the last 8 years planting trees, developing gardens with seating areas, etc. I have seven large perennial gardens and several smaller ones. We just completed a 9 X 12 pond this summer. Next year I will complete my landscaping master plan with a small garden right at the beginning of the driveway which will have a large tree, some potentillas, daylilies, and other perennials and a raised bed right in the front of my house for bulbs and perennials. I do some annuals, but mostly in pots. I've been gardening my entire life, not always by choice, however. I'm sure my mother can't believe that the teenager who left home swearing she would never lift another shovel of dirt in her life has become a master gardener.

your property sounds beautiful!!! Seems as if you've pretty much accomplished your goal with the park-like setting you've worked toward..

I certainly don't have the gorgeous view that you have, even if you haven't done a bit of improving. We spent one summer in Alaska and the Palmer area was my favorite part of the entire state.

It's nice to knowing that you're familiar with the area. If it's been awhile since you were up, you'd be quite surprised at the changes the rapid growth of the Valley has had..
