Rooted cutting - no leaves

Baton Rouge, LA

I recently bought a rooted cutting of Heidi. I received the plant in very good condition and potted it. After four weeks I have yet to see any growth. The stems are firm. The plant is otherwise healthy, just no leaves. The plant has a beautiful shape. it stands about 18 inches tall and has three branches and nine tips.

What am I doing wrong. I fertilized it with root stimulant when I planted it and since I have used SuperBloom with Super Thrive and another fertilizer I have had good success with, WatchUsGrow. I have had cuttings that have put out leaves since I planted this one (Heidi).

Bottom heat and full sun.
Some take a while to wake up.
Ive waited 5 months for well rooted nubbies to awaken before.
Post a picture for us to analyze.

I agree with Michael. A plumie needs time to get adjusted to its new home and will put out growth when it is ready. In the meantime, you may want to water sparingly since you have no leaves. I personally would not fertilize at all until you have leaves. That is just my approach.

Clare and Malestrom, thanks for the advice. I feel much better now. I think one of the benefits of this forum is being able to ask for help and get different people's advice before you go it alone and do more harm than good.

Here is a picture of the rooted Heidi plant I bought. Still no leaves.

Some people are disappointed they don't get blooms. Right now I would be satisfied to get leaves. The plant looks healthy and the branches are firm. I have had cuttings that I have rooted during this time. They hardly have any roots, but they have leaves. This plant has roots, but no leaves. Go figure.

It looks healthy to me! I have several grafts that I received a while ago, and they have healthy roots and no leaves either. Sometimes, it takes a few weeks to a month for a bareroot plant to push out leaves again after being stripped of the dirt and shipped. It just needs time and warmth. If you have some hot concrete to set it on, that will probably speed the process along.

Clare, right now I don't think hot concrete would make much of a difference. Our temperatures have been in the upper nineties for the last two months and our night time temperatures do not drop much. It will be late September before we start getting cooler nights.

Josegabriele - I have to mention this but - plumeria do NOT like clay pots. They are far better off in a plastic one, preferably black.
I am not saying that that is what is wrong with your plumie, but you never know.

Lovely shape on that plant
Shell bush up real nice.
Ya... clay pots will make her unhappy for sure
Black plastic is awesome.
Your temps sound ideal, but bottom heat from 90 to 110 is better. ;^)
Id put her where the pot could heat up for sure
Bottom heat / root / soil temps are what is so very important for bringing them out of dormant stages ;^)
