Ordered my 07 garlic!

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

After pricing out garlic, I decided to try SeedSaversExchange and I got their Sampler package. I've already ordered all of my 07 garden catalogs too. They are really just something for me to look over through winter, since I know I'm getting my peppers from Totally Tomatos and my maters from Sandhill. I don't think I'll be getting a lot more veggies at this point of the season and even the squash and zuch's aren't giving me much now. Boy the season really went fast, but we still have some pumpkins and spaghetti squash to look forward to...

I have never grown garlic, in fact just still in basic training. What did you order and why did you choose that type garlic. I am fasinated with maybe having my own garlic.

I ordered a sampler pack through The Garlic Store, plus an additional hardneck. I've never grown garlic before, either.

crazyjansing -- this is only my 2nd time growing it. My first attempt was a spring planting of Elephant Ear garlic and even tho it was a spring planting, I still got some pleasantly large bulbs and I was so impressed with the difference between store bought and fresh garlic. I ordered a sampler pack (their choices) of 6 harnecks, 3 softnecks and a head of elephant ear. I liked the price so I don't mind which types they send me since I love all kinds of garlic.

White_Hydrangea -- I ordered my first time through the garlic store and loved the company and was pleased with the outcome from a spring planting. The reason I did not use them this year was their head of elephant garlic was 6.50 and at SSE, they give you 2 for 5.00 on their garlic heads. When I cross checked the products in both sites and priced them out, I felt for me, the better deal was SSE. Both are excellent companies in my book.

Best of luck growing your garlic!

Growing garlic is easy, and a great thing to do. I grow between 6-10 kinds depending on my pocketbook and moving from state to state.

I will keep SSE in mind then.
