I can get you a bunch of silk floss tree seeds if you send the SAE. I have not had any luck in getting some to come up tho. There is a neighbor in the neighborhood that has a big one and the ground is always littered with seed. So just send the postage and I wll send you all you want if you put enough postage for them. Hi Fran. Being in England i can't send a sae as i can't buy american stamps. I can send the money via paypall. Or is there anything i can swap with you?

Mike I wish I had seen this list before I sent you the seeds. I have the Cruel vine growing in my garden and it has a big fat pod on it! It is considered a weed here and will quickly smother less agressive plants, but I think it's a cutie. I also have some Brachychiton populneus just harvested if you like? Just say if you don't like the tree. Lizzy

Hi Lizzy, I'm sending those seeds i owe you either monday or tuesday, need to get them weighed at the post office. The dolchios (lablab) is still growing see the picture so i'll send that later.
I used to have the cruel vine but i moved. The seed i have is about 8 years old and won't grow now. I even bought some seed but nothing happens.
Over here they are tamed by our cimate. So never get out of control.
The tree you mentioned would be fun to try but not sure it will live here! So only send them if have lots.
Keep them for now and we can do another swap in a month or so as i'm still collecting so my list grows all the time.
Did you see the pics of my garden in the tropical forum?

Yum! you can eat these pods too can't you?

I have loads of the brachychiton and why not try and grow it - it might do as a conservatory plant if not outside. You could sow some and market them as houseplants for people who haven't a clue LOL. Read this:

http://www.anbg.gov.au/gnp/interns-2002/brachychiton-populneus.html

Just one thing...They're covered in nasty hairs which I have to say I do not clean off as I have to collect them with tweezers to avoid getting them stuck in my skin. Beware. Oh one more thing...this plant is almost succulent - the trunk is very full of water and easily damaged but it is a great tree when mature and I am interested to see how well it does as a potted plant. I'm sending them anyway!

Hehe I'll try and sell anything. I run a Garden Centre so spend all day selling plants to unsuspecting members of the public. hehe
I'll save the pod for you too. I hear its poisonous though!!! Lol
Thinking of food how do you stop chilli peppers from crossing if you grow them together?

Javea, Spain(Zone 10a)

You have to put a bag around the branch you want to isolate, you can make them yourself out of fine cloth. Hepa filter cloth is ideal as it is polen proof just in case you get a waft from a neighbouring plant. It is mainly to keep the insects from passing it on.

I'd like the hibiscus seeds very much - they looked lovely in your photos.

BTW do you really do your own propagation for the garden centre? I've always fancied dabbling in that!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I don't grow stuff for the garden centre we buy stuff in or get it from our nursery.
this is me www.crowders.co.uk

Where do i buy hepa cloth from? What is it used for?

Do sweet and hot peppers cross?

Mike

Nice place to work Mike - lucky you!

I bought hepa filter cloth from Ldle in packs for covering your windows against polen if you are asthmatic. It is very closely non-woven a bit like horticultural fleece. Try a google for suppliers.

The peppers that will cross with sweet are any C.annuum species. Never tried it but am interested in what would happen in a cross with a sweet pepper...

I have some filter cloth spare which I will send with the seeds. It's only pennies.

Lizzy your first packs where sent off today. I'll sort the other ones as soon as there ready!
Cheers for the cloth.
