Hummers after dark???

I had no idea that the hummers feed after dusk. I count six.

yes they do at times John. We only get 1 to a feeder so you are lucky. Ours are very territorial and fight if another one come to their claimed feeder. They only time they didn't was after Hurricane Katrina when there was no other food for them

I think they are attempting to bulk up by packing on a few extra ounces before they start to migrate... so they are feeding alot more this time of year. Just a guess...

I recently went to a hummingbird seminar and the speaker said that usually they will be very territorial over a feeder except when they are getting ready for their migration. then they will be tolerant of feeding with others at the same feeder and you will see multilple birds at the same time. in our area in texas he said it would be in September as they get ready for their trip down to central america..nancy
