my loofah had twin flowers this morning and thought i would share. i held the flowers to get a better picture and didn't notice the backs of them were covered in ants. i got bit sooooooo many times ouch!!!! you can also see a loofah starting in the picture.

Beautiful flowers!. Sorry you were attacked! I wonder why the ants were there...were they trailing after aphids?
i don't know why the ants are there. they are all over this loofah vine! mainly around the flowers.

I've been thinking about growing loofah next year. Where did you get your seeds? Does it grow just like any other squash or gourd? I got interested because I was in the gift shop of a big nursery and they were selling home-made olive oil based soaps that were poured over slices of loofah sponge. I bought one and I just love it for washing up after gardening. The loofah gets the dirt off without scrubbing your skin away and the soap they used is pretty mild. I heard the loofah sponges are expensive so I was thinking I might make a batch of this sometime in the future just for fun.
I'll take any hints you've got.
i cheated on mine lol i had seeds but i don't think they were good so a nice man my husband ran into gave me a plant! i was so proud of it! i am holding my breath to see if my loofahs grow large enough before cold weather. one of my baby loofahs dried up and died. if i get any seeds i will definetly share : ) wish i could be of more help. this is my very first year with them.
