Hi!
I have 4 cats that are in the crysalis stage. The problem is that their colour is grey, not green and they look thin. They have been like this for 4 days.
ARe they supposed to be grey?
thank you
Anna
what is wrong with my cats???
What kind of chrysalis are they.If they are monarch,I've read here in the forums there is alot of that going around.Myself I've not noticed it on my yet.I've had my share of other problems though.
They are swallowtails. Shouldn't they be green?
My Giant Swallowtails and Black Swallowtails have been grayish, brownish or greenish. Just like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get.

if they are Eastern Black Swallowtails yes. Giant Swallowtail are gray. Any way you can post a pic??
Sorry, my camera is broken.
Hmmm...I've had some sort of problem (virus?) with both BST and Monarch's this year, but neither were gray. The BST's turned an orangish/brown. My GST chrysalis were a mixture of colors: gray, white, green. The green on it was really cool. It looked like it could just be part of tree bark. Without a pic all you can do is just wait and see if they eclose. I've had to wait longer than usual for some but never had to wait too long in the summer. Keep us updated.
I think the swallowtails can vary in color based on what they are attatched to - in their limited color variation they will try to match as best they can
I had two black swallowtails in same cage - one attached to a light brown wood piece and the other to the black plastic of the plant pot. The plant pot one was noticeably darker.
Mine are attached to grey twigs. Maybe that is the reason.
