to have around 160 buds on one brug? My daughter and I counted three times. Not the tiny buds, but ones that are all about 4" long? Or, is this just a freak of nature?
Is it possible...
CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is what a happy brug a does in a good flush. So now you have to take a picture when the show begins for us all to enjoy. Which brug is it?
indiana, that's amazing! Yes, please more pictures!
wow, I'm speechless then, Kell. I had no idea. It's my unknown pink. I'm guessing in 2 weeks it will just be a sea of pink.
I just started growing brugs in June and I had no earthly clue as to what they could do. It has bloomed two times since I got her and each time had about 7 or 8 blooms. Not 160. wow.
Truly I will post with pictures when it blooms, fly_girl, or rather, someone else will have to take the pictures because I'll be stunned by it all! :)
LOL. Some brugs bloom in huge flushes, others bloom more continuously but many fewer blooms at one time. Again, a brug has to be so happy so you have been a great caretaker of yours for it to want to reward you like this. I bet if you go out at night, the fragrance will be overpowering when most are open. I love the fantasy of a sea of PINK! LOL, well put!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I'm both, proud for you and jealous. I'll admit it. None of my Brugs are happy at the moment, so I'm glad your willing to share your Happy Pink with us. I will look forward to the pictures.
Judy
WOW are you going to have a show.
No one at home really understands my excitement with this, and it's so great to be able to share it with others that understand.
Truly, I've done nothing special with this unknown pink except for feed it twice a week. There are no tiny buds following these 4" buds, so I'm wondering if this is it for the season.
I know last year (my first year with brugs) my husband didn't see anything exciting about them matter of fact he thought they were weird. He said no flower should hang down and just laughed at them. Then I had one that bloomed the first of Oct. right next to the sidewalk coming into the house. He had to walk by it every night when he took the dogs out to do there job. One night he came in and said what in the world do you have out there that smells so good. So I went out to see what he was talking about and there were 4 opened up blooms and the smell was over helming. This was the first one that had enough blooms that smelled so great. Then he decided right then that he liked them. Anytime some one would come to the house and asked what they were he would jump in and tell them and let them know how nice they smelled and how they could smell up the whole area.
I think he has been a little disappointed this year, because with all the heat and drought my brugs hasn't performed like they did last year. I do have a peaches and cream that is about to bloom it has over 100 buds on it right now. Last year it only gave me 3 blooms but this year it is making up for it. I have noticed some buds dropping, and I really don't remember if it has a good smell or not. I know the Maya smells nice. The one that smelled so good last fall didn't make it through the winter in the GH. But I think it was a unknown.
Well, with the buds only 4 inches long, they have just started to open. :( On my other two "flushes" (ok, 7 - 8 blooms) the pods were 6 inches long when they started to open. I guess with all the heat we had, this is why the pods are so short?
Pug, my boyfriend thought I was crazy at first when I'd check on the blooming progress. Ok, maybe I was a bit obsessive, checking a few times a day, but it was my first time experiencing this. I'm sure everyone here is like this. :) Now, he brags about my unknown pink and actually admires the blooms. Sometimes, some men can be silly! :)
I can't wait to see the pictures of your Peaches and Cream. I bet it will be gorgeous!!
That's pretty awesome! Last year I had a Whiskers cross with more than 70 blooms on it, in the GH after I had moved them in. So far that is the most I have had on one plant. 160, that's a lot! can't wait to see the pics! You are a good Brug Mommie! Bj
Thanks! The problem I'm running into now, is that she's so top-heavy, that the slightest wind knocks her over, and she's in a protected area! Luckily, she's only lost one bud because of it. I'm going to buy some tent stakes and thin rope and see if I can't secure the HEAVY pot that way.
I can't wait to see it in bloom! Am going to keep an eye on this thread! That is a beautiful plant!
So where's the pictures of that darn thang! Can't you make them open any faster!!! LOL! I'm sure we are all on pins & needles!
Ok, BJ, she is about to pop open. I'll go out and take some pictures and post a new thread.
This is why her nickname is "Drama Queen!!" If she's not wilting, she's holding out on blooming until I beg! :)
please post the link to the new thread!
IL, what have you been feeding her, what's the schedule been? That is just so amazing to me, or am I just easily impressed? LOL
Do you think potted brugs bloom more?
What a beautiful site it will be when all those buds open. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
