Is there an ideal time to transplant/divide pine cone ginger? I have a large patch on the wrong place. Thanks

Springtime when the shoots are just emerging is the easiest time, for you. Since all of last years foliage is gone you only have the tiny shoots to deal with as opposed to the 6' high ones you'll be dealing with this time of the year. Is is suffering greatly where it is currently located?

:-))))), No, the ginger is fine, I am suffering because it is too tall and just too happy where it is. The clump is just too huge and you can't even see the little "pine cones".
lol... I have one like that. When I put it in one of the gardens it was dormant, so all you saw was a pot of dirt, it was supposed to be keapmferia rotunda. Well, I planted it and the following spring here it comes Zingiber Zerumbet and was soo happy it soon took up the ehtire corner, but because it is at the corner of the bed (shallow but, raised) you get a really kewl view of all the cones. I just gave it the corner.
