Last year when Hurricane Rita dropped a 100 year old Pecan tree on my deck, garden, car etc-- it leveled the entire fence and all surrounding plants- The trade off is, more sun, and this dammaged plumeria has grown back, and almost a year to the day, it bloomed the best blooms in quite some time!
I noticed the angle of the sun is on it's path to autumn, but also shedding new light and new blooms around the garden.

You have some really initesting plants. Did you sky vine just start to bloom?
I ask because my bloomed beautifully last year and this year I moved it into more sun and haven't had a bloom.
fabulous
Lovely pics and I'm so glad you have some goodies to return for you. A ? on the Alocasia Plumbea.......your's appears to be in the shade.....is that a requirement for this one? I have one also and it is on the deck pretty much in shade but I wondered if it will take sun?
Thanks,
yes actually it did just start blooming- they seem to be ficikle sometimes about the blooming.
The picture of the alocasias was in evening and in fact they get a good dose of afternoon sun- I've actually found they are rather fond of the sun- I relocated one of mine to the front garden that gets full afternoon sun and it is doing well!- in fact, let me go take a quick photo.
Everything looks wonderful!!!
Good job, love that last photo of the moon flower with the reflection. Plumbea has flowers, are you going to try to propagate?
Gorgeous pictures Rj. Love all your blooms, expecially the Aztec Gold
plumeria and the dbl blue peavine.
Jackie
Thanks
- Yes the plumbea is bloombing right now.
Yes I was happy to see those big yellow blooms yesterday..
Pretty cool Randy. Bet it is fun to come home from work and walk around to see what new is blooming. It looks very nice.
Jeanette
Hi Jeanette-
It is! but I usually wake up in the morning and go hunt for what's opening and opened up...It's like christmas every morning!
Wonderful photos and beautiful plants - especially for this time of the year. Lot of frying going on out there! Does your Alocasia go down in the winter? If so, when does it reappear? I have Mark Campbell and Frydek, and they are sooo slow. This year I think I'm going to pot them up and take them inside for the winter....Give them a head start.
I thought cross vine bloomed in the spring.(?) Love the plumeria!!!
CJ
WOW what a great variety of bliss you have there Rj! I love all of it.
Hi --thanks Kell and Cj
Cj - yes the alocasias go down in the winter- this was the first winter I left it in the ground as there were plenty of pups to overwinter in the green house in case. It really didn't start getting busy until the humidity set in around the end of may I would say- when the days were longer and hotter. I do pull all of the pups out and overwinter them in the green house, so they do get that nice head start.
My crossvine blooms in winter and fall .
Do you have any pictures of the Mark Campbell and Frydek...do you have plumbea? hint :)
What a wonderful yard you must have!
Thanks for the tour.
Anything elso to show?
Robert.
mmm....lets see...this one might be fun

Thanks for your comments. Here's a photo of Frydek. I really like it. I put Frydek out in a pot with the thought of bringing it into the house (we don't have a greenhouse - durn it!) and it is doing nicely, but poor Mark Campbell is struggling after emerging sometime in June. The variegated spiral gingers and peacock gingers return so late too.
I noticed on your site that you have a Cryptostegia grandiflora. Ours is shaped like a small tree with a gnarly trunk - really beautiful Another one that goes into the garage for the winter, and has to recover. (Along with the plumeria, which won't fit this year, so will have to cut back. Bummer!)
Love the color of your plumeria! Is it fragrant?
I didn't understand your question: "do you have plumbea? hint :)"
And the tiny (should be larger) Mark Campbell (backs of leaves are burgundy), with the variegated spiral gingers...Mark is getting potted up for overwintering inside....It just doesn't have time to do anything before it disappears again. This is its second year in the ground.
Oh - noticed on your site that you have a friend who lives on Kauai. Lucky fella - both of you! That is where God goes to vacation!

Mine is a young vine, although I noticed there were 2 types, one more like a shrub, and the other a vine- I'm hoping I won't have to take it out during the winter..the greenhouse is booked.
You were commenting on the alocosia plumbea...was wondering if you have any- it's pup season.
I was hoping for a trade on the frydek
The plumeria...it smells just like peaches...!
What is the pretty blue and white flowered plant. I've never seen that before?
Alan
Yes Pea Vine-
a bit of a slow start this year, but ending up the summer with quite a show. They are one of the few that like this full blasting 90 degree summer heat.
