Any ideas on how to make Magnolia leaves rot faster? They always seems to be the last thing to go for me. Heck, even their seed pods break down quicker than the leaves.
Magnolia Leaves Grrrrrrr
I don't know Fireweed but I am always incorporating long decaying pine needles to my compost to get soil structure. I like carbon to remain in soil for worms to feed on decomposition, soil to breath and worms to travel through easily.
Yes, I know what you mean. I often use partially composted material and then top it with mulch, but I'm trying to cut out the mulch and just use compost. I just don't like the look of those big old brown magnolia leaves sticking up. Maybe I could put them in a separate pile and let them sit longer.
Yeah, shred the leathery buggers and treat them with fresh grass trimmings.
