A Face Only a Mother Could Love

St Augustine, FL(Zone 9a)

This big (3-4" long) guy is the feared tomato hornworm, gonna be a sphinx moth.

He is demolishing my tomato plant, but he is so cute. His face looks just like a manatee's.

And the pattern on his back is amazing! Looks like herringbone.

he is just beautiful. Great pics

He is cool looking but I don't love him! He damaged my tomato plants and my neighbors moon vine. I told him to find another plant to munch on.....

Gone this morning. Hopefully burrowed into the soil getting ready to metamorphosize. Karen

Oh, good! You'll be host to a whole family next year. Be sure to plant lots of tomatoes for them so you will have some for yourself, and even more the next year. You can see where this is going. Population explosion is just around the corner!
