what about clay pots
Over time, clay pots seem to absorb salts (from fertilizer & potting mix) that make plants unhappy. I love the look of them, so I've found some plastic containers that I can use as liners (hole poked into bottom for drainage). I recently picked up a spray can of "clay pot sealer" (prob. just polyurethane, but it was on the clearance table) and tried that on a few pots for direct planting... so far, so good, but I won't really know for a few months.
Polyurethane has worked for me. It needs a few, say three, coats or it still manages to soak up minerals and salts which turn the thing white.
This is the place to learn, there are some experienced folks here.
What is its name? (Is it a trailer- that makes a difference) I would not repot it anytime soon from your picture.

I thought clay pots were so cute & might be an option for my over watering habits...well I tried a few in them and I did not care for them at all ,it was amazing that I got powdery mildew after using the clay pots & the outsides got a slimy feel to them, so I do like Crittero & just use them as a cover pot.
I do however love the self watering pots & they relly helped my over watering.Of course it does'nt hurt that they are so pretty, too.:)

Morning!
I read somewhere that you are supposed to soak those clay pots before using them but I have never tried it...don't know if that would help or not.

Rob's has some good advice about trailers on his web site, www.robsviolet.com
You can let trailers grow over the edge of the pot or grow them like a ground cover (the new crowns will root where they touch the soil surface). BUT, you can't plant those mini trailers in a deep pot, or their roots will get soggy... If you put them in a wider pot, it must be a shallow pan pot holding no more than 2 inches of dirt. I've got a happy 'R's Sticky Wicket' growing in a take out container from Chick-Fil-A (holes in the bottom, 4" across, maybe 1 1/2 inches deep... the black one that they use for a "large" side of slaw).
Eunice right now your plant does not need a larger pot but a more shallow pot. Azeala and Pan Pots are great for trailers
the pot you have your trailer in looks too deep for your plant.
The roots are going to get lost and and won't grow. Trailers have shallow roots. I'd plant it in a Pan Pot. I never could find 3-4 inch pan pots but some people use other type ow low plastic containers put holes in the for trailers.
I don't feel clay pots are the best choise for African violets though for years growers used them.
Try one or two and see if you like them !
