hoya curtisii

New Iberia, LA

I don't know if anyone noticed cowboyflowerman selling these on ebay...Well I won a unknown hoya and decided to get another curtisii so I can put a bunch rooting for next year ...Well it came in today and when I pulled it out the box my mouth dropped open in description it said large but thats a under statement...it's in a 8 inch basket but you can't see it(the basket) I had to measure it,it's a foot and a half accross and two feet long...I don't know how many he has left but if anyone wants a curtisii from him this is a chance to get a monster....Just awsome.....

WOW, that is a beautiful plant! I sure hope someday that our Home Depot or new the new Lowe's going in will have one.
I wrote to Jodi and she only has 4 inch pots left of Curtisii :(
I have one little cutting that isn't doing much so I haven't decided whether or not this may be ANOTHER hoya that doesn't like me and I'm sure I'd kill a 4 inch pot alot faster than an 8 inch hanger *lol* :(
It's funny, some hoyas seem to like me and others....not so much :(
Curtisii, Bella and Lacunosa are my favorites and so far Bella and Lacunosa have both told me multiple times that they don't care for me much *lol* so I'm worried about Curtisii now :(

Kim...bella can be a real pain but I am SURE H. lacunosa would work for you. It just likes to grow very WET/WARM in bright indirect light... How are you growing yours?

Kim I have killed so many curtisii's I hate to admit it!! The ones exotic angel is selling to home depot and lowes are really nice..I kept mine growing in the soil it came in and it seems fine putting out new growth,As far as this one the leaves are not as big as EA so we will see if I can grow it..Will be whacking away at it tomorrow..Also the one from EA..My Lacunosa is doing great but she gets a lot of water just like my bella's...What I did with my V Bella I put a lot of sponge rock in her mix so she drys better, but I also water everyday..I guess it's just trial and error...Keeping fingers crossed...I also use Elanores and Messanger..

Dianne....you water what everyday? The bella, or everything? If I were to water anything everyday I'm sure it would croak. You must have awful loose mix.

I once had a nice full pot of EA Lacunosa but I made the mistage of unpotting it and re-potting it which sent it into a shock that it never came out of. What I need to learn to do is jsut buy aj plant and LEAVE IT ALONE! I was keeping it wet like I do the bella but the leaves did the same thing that the Bella is doing to me....tinned out like leather and weren't plump and firm like they should be. I tried misting with Eleanor's and everything but nothing helped. I have no idea what all the balck dots on my Bella is but it seems that another cutting that I have has these same black "freckles". I find I have better luck with the thicker leaved hoyas and with larger plants and not tiny cuttings.

Marcy I water everyday and sometimes twice a day! I know it seems a lot but I would have major dead lost if I didn't...This is a normal summer and sometimes in the evenings I water,my soil is 30 percent soil and the rest orchid bark(fine) and sponge rock...We will be hooking up a watering system in the new greenhouse so it will be nice not standing there at 6:00 in the AM..

Kim just hang in there,it will get better!
