Please help!!!Looking for herbs for postage.

I am looking for pinapple sage, creeping rosemary, and lime thyme. I'm selfish, I just want some of the pineapple sage. My DH just left the latter two outside in the containers they came in and forgot to water them. Now no one around here has any. I will take seeds or plants.

Hi Kay,
If you cant get any from the U.S. I will send you some if you like:)

My pineapple sage is seeding at the moment, it doesnt set a lot off seed, but it sure does flower, I have 5 seeds collected, if you wait a week, I will have more, I know more are setting as I went and felt the calyx, if interested lmk.

Sorry, I don't have any of those! The 'Lime Thyme' sounds scrumptious, though...

I've never had much luck with rosemary from seed, and I'm not sure if the recumbant (creeping) form will come true from seed. Similarly, I know a lot of thymes won't grow from seed and need to be propagated from cuttings... but hopefully somebody will have a plant that has been growing like mad this summer and could spare a few cuttings.

I have pineapple sage but it's not blooming. It will die this winter here so I plan to dig it up and pot it. I only bought it on a whim mid season, but it's growing nicely where I planted it. Do cuttings go through the mail?

Candis, there are some good tips on packaging cuttings in the Trading Primer, and there's a good "sticky" on packaging plants at the top of the plant trading forum.

I've had slightly better success with sending rooted cuttings, but yes, cuttings will go through the mail. I wrap the bottom in moist paper towel, preferably with a blob of hydrated powdered moisture crystals added, then wrap with Glad Press 'n Seal (or a baggie with a rubber band at the top around the stems). The foliage gets wrapped in paper (like wrapping flowers from the florist)... you don't want the leaves to come in contact with plastic, or condensation will cause them to rot into mush.

I would like to try it, if possible.

Here's a summary I posted in the propagation forum -- Tom DeBaggio's method of rooting cuttings, http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/597232/

Some people have been having great luck rooting all sorts of stuff in water with a bubbler added (fish tank aeration gizmo).

Do you have a bright indoor spot to overwinter it? If not, you may be better off finding a new plant or cuttings next spring.

kaykay1010, sorry I got distracted. We've had a deluge of rain here. Been working in my son's room, painting, etc. I could try rooting some cuttings for you. When did you want them?

Cincinnati, OH

Whenever, no rush, I have been trying to get this plant for 2 years. Thanks.

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Okay, I read the rooting article and I read the packaging advice. If it ever stops raining, I'll go out and see if the plant is still there (lol as they say) and I'll divide it or take cuttings, which ever seems most appropriate. Then I'll d-mail you and we can figure out what to do, okay?
It is supposed to clear up tomorrow and I have tons of yard work to do so I'll be outside if at all possible.

Hi

I have some creeping rosemary I would be happy to send you. It will be cuttings in wet paper towel and a zip bag. The cuttings should survive fine and you can root them real easy. I would be happ to share.

That would be great. candyinpok sent my some pineapple sage, and for her first time sending plants, she is practically a pro!! They were in excellent condition, and not one single leaf was broken!! Can I send you postage, or is there something else you would like? I can see what I have.
