Top Ten or twenty or thirty???

Baton Rouge, LA

I have to admit I have not read all the postings, although I do try to read a page or two of past postings when I get a chance.

Has anyone made a list of "must have" plumerias that a plumeria afficionado should have? I would be interested to know everyone's favorites.

Oh my you are asking for it lol!!
Celadine as it grows easy and is considered unkillable
Aztec Gold is an all time reliable bloomer
Slaughter Pink is a prolific bloomer, grower and seed setter
JL Pink Pansy is one of the most elegant and beautifully shaped blossoms
Giant Aussie Orange for her Kaliedascope of colors and large blooms
Princess Victoria for her lovely pink and white pattern with color splashes
Tillie Hughes for her constant non stop show of huge bouquets
Japanese Lantern for her incredible pendulous inflos and sharp pointed red petals
Lava Flow for her irridescent and blindingly bright orange and red colors
#10 I reserve for my seedlings heh...
I have so many and as they bloom I am wowed over and over and over lol!!
I hope that helps!!
I currently have cuttings from Lava Flow, Celadine, Aztec Gold and a few others like
Thai White, Malestroms White #1, Orange Blossom Special...
I was busy cutting branches this week to shape my trees better.
Lots of cuttings laying around lol!!

Good thread, Josegabriele! I have to admit that I have not seen most of the 600+ registered cultivars, and there are many more unnamed/unregistered cultivars/hybrids that I have only seen in pictures. I've also only been growing them for about four years now, which is a pretty short period of time, so I really haven't had time to make a fair assessment. Basically, my favorites are whatever is blooming now! LOL! I also happen to love many of my unnamed hybrids.

With all that said, if I were going to recommend readily available cultivars to someone based upon my experience and others' recommendations, they would have to be some of the following:

Celadine, a beautiful yellow with a strong classic scent

Samoan Fluff, a beautiful white with a strong lovely fragrance

Scott Pratt or Hilo Beauty, the darkest reds

Vera Cruz Rose for its beauty and strong rose fragrance

Kauka Wilder, a beautiful red with a strong coconut suntan lotion fragrance

Teresa Wilder, a beautiful rainbow that lights up the garden

Tahitian Sunset, a beautiful rainbow with a strong orange center

Singapore, a strong-scented beautiful white flower with dark shiny evergreen leaves

Dwarf Singapore Pink, dainty pink blossoms with a strong fragrance and shiny evergreen leaves

Dwarf Deciduous, a dwarf tree with strong-scented white flowers

San Germain, white strong-scented flower

Ammaron's Curly White, a gorgeous flower with long spidery petals

Sariah Curly Pink, also a gorgeous flower with long spidery petals and a touch of pink

Key West Pink or Miami Rose, a great pink flower with a wonderful fragrance

Penang Peach, a good bloomer with pretty colors and a peach fragrance

Aztec Gold, a large yellow flower and strong peach fragrance

That is the list that I would recommend to someone looking for easy-to-find favorites. Well, those would be a good start! LOL! As you start to collect plumies, you find that they all tend to be favorites when they are in bloom.

Ten Plumies I would rescue if there was a fire.....:

Singapore Obtusa
Dwarf Singapore Pink
Lurline
Aztec Gold (although I could probably get another one easily LOL)
Cerise
Mary Moragne
Scott Pratt
Jeannie Moragne
Donna S
India
