A few tropicals...

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Here's a few that are coming through the uber-hot temps without so much as a limp leaf. These are some of my tropicals...

Having a brain fart here... I know this one, but can't remember the name off the top of my head.

edited to add in the name, it's Pavonia multiflora. (thanks, Jackie)

I forget the name of this hibiscus...

(oops... lol, forgot to turn the photo... oh well, the flower still looks the same. Kinda like which side of a circle is up, huh?)

And finish off with this cute little booger. He's about half grown... maybe a few inches long. Hanging out on Carissa macrocarpa.

Thanks! Yes, Jackie, that's it. I was just coming to put edit it in cuz I finally remembered it, lol!

Carol, yes, I love it (orange is my favorite color). And that's not even a very full raceme! They are usually packed on there.

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

Yes, that orange Tacoma is beautiful. Going to see if anyone is growing that around here.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

carter, all gorgeous. Is the var. natal plum thorny like the green? I have been thinking about adding either one because I love the round leaves, but the thorns keep holding me back. I have enough of those with roses and citrus.

Orange tecoma is absolutely dreamy.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Great pictures, Carter. You have the neatest collection of plants. Does Geico know you have their spokesperson crawling around on your plants? LOL

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

lol, Ada! Vossner, I don't recall any thorns in the variegated natal plum, but in either case, I don't think thorns are bad on either of them. I've had no problem handling either of them. I just went and checked, and neither have thorns. My regular natal plum is the dwarf one (I just remembered that).

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

pheitmeyer orange Tacoma grows great here. As long as you keep the gophers away!!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Gophers!! I never had any here...lol..Beautiful pics, Carter!!!

Carter where did yu find the variegated hamelia? and the seeds on that tecoma come true from seeds, i grew some 2 yrs back from collected seeds

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Eclipse, I got the hamelia locally at a nursery haunt of mine. They have a special table where a local collector sells unique, unusual and rarer things. I remember you posting about that the seedlings you grew out. I have a bunch of seed and a bunch more pods ripening on it.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

eclipse, everybody else had told me the that seeds did not come true on the orange. But you say YES? I collected a few seeds from mine, when would be the best time to sow? That is great news, this is such a beautiful plant

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

deb, that is a fantastic website

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Glad you like it Vossner--it seems like the sort of plants you are into.

That's the guy that originally found/propagated that variegated hamalia--its a great site, I just don't grow a lot of the things that they grow--more into natives here. They have now moved to Austin I think....

Lookin mighty fine!
